Maybe you can ask him:

I'm pretty sure that's an AJL guitar. He's a European maker more well known for his Selmer/Macafferi style guitars.

Sorry for the tangent, but that piano player is amazing!!!

I hope you get a definitive answer, Helios.

Yes indeed: He really takes off after 4:00 Min into the video (I've never heard anyone that good!).

It is not fair, I tellz ya, it is just not fair. Not only is the guy tall, young, buff and debonair, very handsome looking with good dress sense, he has great chops too. Go, you piano player, you. I didn't know Rafael Benitez played jazz piano.
As for the guitarist in the room, yeah, I guess he's not too bad.

Ah, but extreme good looks and talent such as this can be a blessing and a curse. Hopefully, Oberg has a joyful life. We need more happy people in this world. There are too many angry ones.

Ok I'll burst the bubble... The guitar is sharp and I personally don't think it sounds very good. It sounds like he's practising along with the ireal pro app. Sorry but I don't hear any music in that clip. Andreas can burn on the Django style. He plays like a machine gun on this style and there is no blues in it whatsoever. Sure he's fast but what's the point??

Andreas was also (IIRC) the Tennis Champion of Sweden. When talent and looks were given out, he took way more than his fair share.
Here is a clip of Andreas trading fours with Larry Coryell (Andreas was playing my L-5 WESMO, Larry was playing a Parker flattop, I am between them playing rhythm using my Dupont MD-20):

It wouldn't be much of a forum if there were no diverging views. I like the tone (and playing), and I'd still like to know what the guitar is. I'm also thinking of getting a AJL one day. Jeff

He's not Freddie Green on comping--but, at least, he comps behind the pianist. Many guys would just lay out. [By the way, that guitar--whatever it is--sounds good through the Polytone he is using.]
Guys like Oberg are going to be the future of jazz guitar. Support them. I understand he has been playing as a pro for about 20 years. He's going to be around.
FWIW, the pianist is a mother$#@!%^, to use Miles' term.
(edit) I am listening again and I think the clip sounds quite good. I think some of the folks were too harsh. This guy's got it. His pianist should be a headliner. Gosh.Last edited by Greentone; 08-05-2016 at 05:08 PM.

It looks like a flat, no-radius fretboard. 16:00-16:30

Oberg is a Benedetto endorser, but that's not a Benedetto. And Marian Petrescu is a headliner.
