My ' new' L-5 Wes has the TOM facing the same direction - with the screw heads facing the neck as opposed to the TP.

I don't know if it's ever been set up, ( correctly or otherwise ) so, is there a ' correct ' placement ?

An S shape looking at it from the side you mean? I'm trying to visualize it...can you snap a photo?

I've had a couple laminate guitars with tops like that (from what I think I am seeing there). They were cheaper guitars...but they were structurally sound and I never had any problems from them.

I surprised the rest of the group when I brought the new 175 to rehearsal today.

They liked.

They passed their jazz IQ test!

Mine looked like that and I reversed the pickup mounting ring of the neck pickup and it looked right. I really think a batch of otherwise perfect 175s got their neck pup mounting rings reversed. I posted the pics somewhere here a couple months back.
