I have that happen with the Pro Plec picks but not with the Ultex. That suggests to me it may be some sort of individual allergic reaction to different materials. I don't have it happen with the Ultex, the Tortex 500, the V-Pick material but just a few seconds of contact with the Pro Plec material causes me to get a sore on my lip. But I don't have any problems with the skin on my fingers being irritated by any pick material I've ever tried. I figured that I was just weird (well, I am or I wouldn't be playing jazz on a guitar) so it's interesting to hear that something similar happens to someone else.
