Not here yet, but definitely one of my last Bucket List acquisitions - a 1996 GB100. Ya know for 18 years I played in a not so great (but inspired) church band that played at two convalescent homes twice a month. All that time I had a lot of guitars come and go. BUT, THE GUITAR that always felt best, sounded best thru my Deluxe Reverb and got the most compliments was a 1981 GB10NT. So it's like Coming Home Sunday to close the deal on this baby. Yeah it's not as flamed out as some of the GB12s guys have been bragging about owning, but so what. I'm a mutt and I got my GB100 today !! LOL !!! For now here's a shot from the ad. When I get it I'll post some photos of my own. Kevin-san was great to work with. He had an ad on Reverb where I pulled the trigger but had to work out a way to pull the ad (and bids) he had on eBay with less than 12 hours left in the auction (a very sticky technical issue for a seller running a no reserve auction)...
The other more amazing and happier news was the very last of my cats, Nellie (aka Nelson to Whiskers Rescue) was placed in his new Forever Home, yeah Buddy you finally got new family...

Well I decided to post the ebay ad link because the seller really tells a lot about the guitar and it's chock full of great photos. It was running on eBay and I was all set to eSnipe it and about 2pm I noticed someone came in and outbid the original bidder. I figured the price was gonna go through the roof and in frustration looked at blonde GB10s on eBay and then went to Reverb to do the same when I SPOTTED THE GB100 with a BIN option of $1990.00 !! Boy I wasted no time pulling the trigger and then contacting the seller to let him know I was the new owner. Kevin-san, also known as Sharpened Flat Music had some hustling to do but he did a great job. Via the ad text on eBay I read it was his gigging guitar and that pleased me because I don't want a closet queen I'd be afraid to touch, I want a guitar that's been played a LOT and sounds like it. Enjoy the pics fellas... Glad to be showing my Ibanez Love again, Fujigen factory build.

Congratulations, Big Mike!!
I know how long you've wanted one of those high end GB's. It might not be the long lusted after GB "Masquerade" model (I hear they are made from rare Japanese Terada Unobtanium!), but this is a quality guitar that you can play and enjoy as it was intended.

WOW Mike !!! What a beautiful guitar. I love the neck inlays and the color. A big Congrats to Big. :-)
Me and a friend play every week at a convalescent hospital also. It's my favorite gig.
The audience is either in a wheelchair or a hospital bed. Enjoy your new gorgeous axe my friend !

Big Mike ,
Congratulations ! That is a strikingly beautiful guitar. The proportions are gorgeous. Wishing you many hours of playing joy. Also happy that Nellie found the new family. I'm a big time animal lover.
Stay well
-
Congrats on the NGD and bless sweet Nellie.

Congrat's & happy NGD!

Mikey!
Yes, I agree, that is a strikingly beautiful Guitar. The color is gorgeous. Its in real nice shape too. The gold parts are not pitted at all. I am a fan of the abalone.
If it is anything like my JP20 or my old GB10, you have yourself an incredibly well built, BEAUTIFUL guitar that will serve you well for many years to come. That is a really nice guitar.
The only one I'd rather have would be Joni Mitchells Blond GB10.
Enjoy my good man.

Hi Big Mike,
congrats on your NGD , the GB100 is a fabulous guitar, I only reluctantly moved mine
on last year after 17years as, a go to guitar. They are matchless, top quality and so
easy to play. Have had a number of Ibanez guitars. 2 GB10's, a PM100, a JP20 the
GB100 , my latest is a PM200 which is also superb. May I wish you many happy
years of great playing with your new GB100 ( ......? now, why did I sell it ??? )

Congratulations, Big Mike, to you and Nellie. May you both enjoy the new guitar in your new home in good health!

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the 100, and Nellie, now known as Nelson was the last of the cats I put into the hands of Whiskers Rescue in Jersey. Poor timing as most folks do not want a cat, but a kitten. Nelson is 2 and 4 months and a wonderful pal. Would go walking with the rest of us thru the Back 40 and then the horse property behind me and then they'd all lurk in the bushes waiting for Lady and I to come back, jump out like the little ninjas they were and run ahead, just to lurk and repeat over and over... Boy I miss them a lot. BUT now I'm safer and I know they are all in loving homes. That was the capper to Sunday, hearing Nellie was placed in a family with kids. He'll be a tv watching couch cat with whoever will have him.
God Bless Guys...

It cleared Chicago Customs (about 15 minutes from my location) and should be delivered TODAY !! Pics to follow. The GB10 is at a UPS warehouse nearby ready for Monday delivery. Busy week...
-
The guitar arrived, saw the postal carrier bring it out of his delivery van, rushed to the lobby to open the outside door. Coming up the sidewalk I panicked, the box had a big gash in it
.

Hope the guitars okay Mike. That shipper should have double boxed the guitar, but at minimum should always use double corrugated cardboard. That single layer stuff isn't fit to ship any guitar. Good luck!

He was gonna be there sometime filling all the mailboxes, so cut the end open taking more photos for claims purposes. There wasn't much padding in the box, but inside the case was really packed very nicely. My eyes about fell out, the bed I opened the case on has sunken overhead flood lights, the guitar lit up like a fine opal in the sun. She is far flamier than in the ads, and the detail and quality of everything is amazing. Doggone !! Enjoy the show.

Congratulations Mike. You'll love her. Nice honey burst! Is that special for the GB100? She's got that warm, worn in feeling about her.
-
Hi John !!!
When I bought this I thought "oh boy I'm buying a sunburst guitar" (cringing a little because deep down I prefer natural finishes). But (reaches over to the bed next to the office desk to open the case and say "hello") it's more of a very light iced tea or tinges of cherry burst in strong lighting. It's 20 years old now and it has a couple of very tolerable cosmetic issues, tiny in esteem. It's got that wonderful GB neck guys always rave about. I got it delivered EMS for $2100.00.
When I looked at others for sale on eBay and Reverb this one "seemed" tame compared to the flamiest but was right there with some that were selling for an additional $1200.00 - $1500.00 more. When I found it on Reverb with a BIN of $1990.00 I flipped and pulled the trigger, not believing my good luck (the original BIN on eBay was only $2300.00, but someone put in an entry level bid that cleared that option out). Kevin-san the seller was what 12 hours away, but when he got online and saw his his emails he acted very professionally to help close the deal for me on eBay. I got it for my winning bid on Reverb when all was said and done. Kevin-san is someone I would gladly deal with again in the future. Thanks Kevin-san
Now some comments I wanted to make. Someone said the seller should have double boxed the guitar, heck that's shoulda coulda. The seller did an amazing job padding and protecting the guitar in it's case. And except for the gash the box was a very strong and sturdy thing. It didn't languish anywhere, it was picked up in Japan on Wednesday and was through Customs there and across the Pacific and in Chicago Customs early Friday afternoon. Somewhere along the way some Samsonite Ape impersonator did toss the box, but again a very stout box, even a double can get trashed in the "right hands". The bottom line there was it made it safe and sound.
Now about this THING sitting next to me. I am amazed what a clean job those fingerboard inlays are, such lovely mother of pearl and I can't see any filler or anything. Was Fujigen using CNCs back then, the work on the entire guitar is SO precise... There's all this track lighting here in the condo and you get it under some of those flood lights and doggone it really jumps out at you. I love all the bling and detail. Last night I watched parts of Absolutely Live (in Dublin Ireland) on dvd and fast forwarded to the songs GB is using his GB100 on. I gotta say I really like the coloring on mine better than his... I was always a sucker for a cherry burst Les Paul, but like a lot of guys I just can't bond with a solid body guitar. I love looking at great LP bursts but doggone the reality is they just don't feel right in my hands. I prefer the fatter body of a hollow body. Well this one sure gives me my cherry burst fix.
I've got a ton of stuff going on, I can't tell ya how much, and it won't be until tonight and then on Monday when I can really play her. The weather here is so doggone gorgeous that I HAD TO get out and go shopping at a Trader Joes and do some girl watching after I played the guitar a little bit. I'm still over the moon happy that I am not so isolated and stuck at home like I was in Jersey. Now the crazy thing is on Monday the blonde '79 GB10 gets here. I just got a new iMac and the residual pieces of that order (trackpad, 3TB Time Capsule and Super Drive) also arrive Monday, but those are quicky things to handle. I was cleaning up my old iMac and setting it up for my cousin Dan who is taking it today. Like I said there is a LOT going on here right now. Once the other Blondie gets here I'll do a couch shot of the three of them with the original Blondie in the middle. More later fellas.

Hey Mike, good to see you are happy with GB100 (and I am crying for days to let my beloved GB go).
And I am not Japanese. I happen to live in Tokyo but I am Korea-born and again, happened to become Australian citizen several years ago. So please no more call me Kevin san haha!
Cheers,
-
Kevin,
No SAN FOR YOU !@@!!!! LOL !!
Yeah she is really great, you did a masterful job wrapping up the business end of the multiple auctions, thank you again. And I love the guitar and was so relieved when I got her unpacked and it was safe and unscathed. Thanks again. Sorry you had to part with her but she's in good hands...
