    This is interesting;

I recently sold my Mambo 10 and bought an AER Alpha with the intention of selling my Telecaster and getting a GB 10. I think the AER and the GB 10 sound great together.

Perhaps I will give the AER and the Telecaster a go, and report back.

My Tele sounds great through my AER Compact 60.

But then again, all of my guitars do...

It took me a long time to dig my compact 60. now I do but i still find the spaker a bit boxy and too hifi. The AER through a guitar cab or lined out to a PA sounds better to me (these days I run my Kemper profile of the AER like it a lot).

AER is too clean for me.I mean if I play electric guitar on it.

I understand Kris. a telecaster through an AER does not sound good to me. But with a guitar cab some of the harsh sounding high frequencies are cut and it sounds good. An archtop can sound good through the AER ... at least I warmed up to the sound.

Maybe Christian can give us some example of his telecaster sound through his AER and tell us how he eq'ed it?

I have no Alpha experience, but the Compact 60 is NOT my bag, for any guitar.

But if it sounds good to you, it is good.

I'll let you in on a little secret: AER Alpha + ES-333 is also awsome sound!

I'll be gigging tonight with my Alpha, and I think I'll bring the tele.

Heck, also my ES-125 sounds great thru it!

The AER is a very hi-fi amp. If that is not your thing stay away. My main rig is an Acoustic Image Clarus through a Raezer's Edge Cabinet. Those who do not like their amps to be too hi-fi would not like this combo either.

I played a solo jazz guitar gig yesterday using my Tele and my AI/RE combo. I noticed a couple of guys coming over to check out my amp. They were most likely guitar players who were wondering how I got a Telecaster to sound so good.

I'm quite interested to know what this sounds like with the AER...

I'm sure the Two Notes may be a very nice overdrive but I can tell you without 110v running to it that tube is doing nothing it is purely for looks. It's been noted by big time pedal builders that it is a gimmick used by many builders to put an led behind the tube to make it look like its warmed up. I'd love to hear the Tele through the AER though.

OK, I gave it a go and, sorry Christian but.

Telecaster + AER alpha = not awesome at all.

    BUT

Archtop + AER alpha = awesome, to me anyway.

There is an internal step-up to 200V.

Yeah I read that they had the internal step up and was still very skeptical i'd like to see the schematic, to me it still just sounds like a run of the mill overdrive going through a tube amp, but if it gives someone the tone they're after then I am just nitpicking and who cares really haha.

I would say that I am less enamoured of the latter, in fact.

Ha! I suspected as much. Maybe just stick with the Joyo American Sound then;-)

Still I like the DI's cleans on this. I'm thinking it would be worth a try, but you rarely hear jazzers demoing these things.

I think some people expect a Tele to sound like a Tele. I actually don't want my Tele to sound like a Tele unless it's Princeton Twang time. I want it to sound very smooth, clear and the AER works for this. I think there is actually a lot of preamping and compression type stuff going on.

Other's pick up the Tele and they want that Tele sound. It's understandable - why bother otherwise?

But for me, I want a guitar that is a bit of a blank canvas - a very even Contemporary Jazz type sound. Tele neck position through a solid state amp does this very well. I'm probably a bit of a wierdo.

Those American Sounds (or the Tech 21 pedal Joyo lifted the circuit from) are just great lil all purpose warmer uppers, ain't they?

I also have great success using a Paul Cochrane Timmy pedal for warming up to sound like tubes or a mild overdrive for solos.

Yeah they are pretty good... I just wish they had a capacity to take an XLR output and run off phantom power, but I don't think the SansAmps have that...
