The width of the necks will be realtively the same (give or take a small bit) on most jazz guitars. The depth of the neck (from fingerboard to back of neck) is what varies the most. The Artcores have what's known to be thinner (fingerboard to back of neck) necks. Some like them, some don't. As far as side to side width (more string spacing), sounds like you might like a classical style neck ...

I have a question..I notice inside these guitars on the label thru f hole after the model number is -12-01...what does that mean..I dont think the year it was made..pipster

You got me curious so I checked my AG95 which is also 12-01. I think the longer number beneath that is the Date. Mine is S08043510, which I think means made in 2008.

Just a quick note to those who are still looking at Ibby's in the custom series. I ran across an incredible bargain on their discontinued AF 100.....doesn't appear to be that different from the 105's for an amazing $499.00. It's got all the features of the $999 rigs including the case for nearly HALF the frog skins ! I've been gigging up town with it now for a while and I LOVE this new blonde chick !

I am a small time luthier but I make great guitars. Check out my stuff. Hand made and easy to play with great action. Smallman style lattice...Cedar...Rosewood etc... Spanish heel construction. Lots of sustain and projection. Concert quality.

I can send you a couple videos in addition to the Utube below if you want.

Fred Benedetti is one of the best guitarists in the US. Last guy ever to take a master's class from Segovia. He knows my work. Peter Sprague, Jaime Valle and George Svoboda play my guitars. Great guitars at a fraction of the cost of the ones advertised in the shiny magazines.

If you don't like what I do. Give another small private luthier a try. The best guitars in the world are being built in guy's garages.

for strings on my af75 i use gretsch electromatic flatwound 12s. They get a great warm tone and last for a long time. plus no one buys them at the store i work at so the owner gives them to me haha

@ MartinoPass: I decided to put the extra 300 € on the table and buy a AK105 like you have (and not the AK 95) and I don't regret it. Got the guitar today and it's simply amazing! Thank you for your input here!

Sweet! Glad to be of help. The AK105 is a beauty to play and look at! Enjoy playing it. I just used mine at a gig last night.

The Artcore Custom line is worth the extra bucks for a better, nicer playing guitar.

I tried Thomastik-Infeld .012 Big Band on mine and liked them, but I didn't like forking out so much cash for them. I went to D'Addario chromes and don't like them as much but they're about 1/2 the price.

I was looking for an epiphone es-175 premium but nothing appeared for a long time so I got this from a friend to try it. Its an AF105nt. He is selling it for around 425 eur. I like the pickups and the neck shape, fretboard and playability but I don't like the finish on the neck. Its sticky and I cant stand this type of finish during the summer. I usually don't buy/play guitars with it. Sound is surprisingly warm. Are there any similar ibanez models with non gloss finish?

No there aren't AFAIK. If you really like the guitar you can always try some sanding paper. But that's not reversible and makes the guitar almost impossible to sell again.

    I wouldn't do it.

Has this guitar been played or not? In my experience the neck loses its stickiness when it has been played for a while. So if it hasn't been played much but will be played by you on a daily basis, you can expect the neck to be considerably less sticky next summer than it is now.

I've got an old Af120 and a newer AF81 both well played in and I don't notice any stickyness to the necks

    FWIW ....

Interesting post. I love mine, cheap and effective jazz guitar. Paid only 350€, hardcase included. I have no stickiness issue when I play it, winter or summer. I can jump from my 105 to my other guitars (semi, solid or acoustic) and can't feel the difference about stickiness. Maybe it's not the instrument for you, go on and try different guitars. Nonetheless I'm very happy with her.

    Somethings not right:
    AF95FM, AG95, AF151F, AF200, and PM200 in house,
    LGB30, GB10 both gone.
Not a sticky neck in the bunch.
There’s so many Ibanez hollow bodies out there at nice prices I personally would wait for another.

Now my Gibson ES350T... THAT had a sticky neck)))

I don't know the history. Friend didn't play it at all. I am usually OK with glossy necks if they are clean but for 30 mins or an hour, after that things become very sticky. Washing hands and cleaning the neck helps but I am not always in position to do so.

I sanded some necks in the past.

While still clean, this guitar is very fast and I can pull out things that I struggle with on most of my other guitars. I am happy with the weight. I returned it but I will consider buying it. I don't have experience with hollow body guitars so I don't have an idea how this guitar compares to others and market here doesn't have a lot of them. Maybe few used are sold every year.

    Thanks for replying.
