Hi
I have two guitars that are my main jazz guitars, gibson chet atkins tenneseann and an eastman 805ce that has been fitted with a mounted humbucker.
Both guitars are very good and i really love the playability of the eastman. I however after trying different guitars through out the last years am keen on having my 335 style guitar with solid woods and my fully hollow less prone to feedback and a little less bright then my 805 is.
So i´m thinking about getting an eastman t186mx and then possibly selling my 805 and getting a laminated fully hollow, then my budget would be around 2200$ for a new guitar.
What options would you guys reccommend?
I was thinking
the eastman pisano laminated
possibly gibson es 175 but not sure i will find one within my budget
peerless
heritage H575
what other options am i forgetting?

Common misconception, but the 575 is solid wood.
I'd get a '70s Guild X-175 and have $$$ left over. Quality-wise, my '78 is on par with much more expensive guitars. I own 5 other more expensive archtops and have been lucky to play many more.
The only possible negative is it's built very heavy. Mine feels like it's at least 8 lbs.
2nd choice would be a Guild X-500.
You could also get a Gibson ES-165 for much less than your budget.Last edited by HeyNow; 01-03-2016 at 01:36 PM.

If you're looking at ES 335 styles the Heritage 535 is what you want. I can only comment on the build and sound quality of my 575, but I am impressed with Heritage guitars! If I were in the market for that style the 535 would be at the top of my list. Good luck!

Very clean Es 165 can be found anywhere anytime for your budget
A nice es 175 if you look for a private seller, 1970s model, or a good dealer price like https://www.gbase.com/gear/gibson-es-175-2000-sunburst
Single p90 / no cutaway ES 125 and 150 models are well under 2k and particularly good sounding for jazz, but seen the guitars you have and options you mention you dont seem to be into vintage right ?

Heritage H535
Peerless* Cremona (hollow body but a great guitar)
* Peerless has recently introduced an ES335 clone called the "Hardtail". Only $1100. You would have enough left over for a nice little amp plus a pizza and a six pack.

@gspirro:
Much Agreed!!! The H535 is a great guitar and I am equally impressed by the quality and tone of my H575 Custom.Last edited by jazz.fred; 01-03-2016 at 03:34 PM.

I've tried all the ones the OP mentioned except the Heritage. My vote would be the same one I bought as my backup axe: Eastman 371. I tried it side by side to the Pisano laminate (380 model) expecting I'd buy the Pisano, but I much preferred the 371.

Tal Farlow. I've seen 4 sell fairly recently near your price range. Ditto on the Peerless Cremona

Thanks for all the pointers guys, will look further into those options.
I will likely get 2 guitars, the eastman t186 as my "335" style guitar although i´m well aware of it being far from a 335 and that is the reason i´m getting it.
then it is a question about the fully hollow, what i´ll get there for a little over 2000$, great suggestions from you guys, i´ll keep you posted

You wouldn't be doing too bad with one of these:

I went the other way around. Traded a 371 for the Pisano 380.

2B, Tal Farlows should not be selling for $2200. You saw 4 of them?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will start by getting the t186 but seems like that won´t happen until march. If i manage to sell my 805 i´m going for the laminate or possibly a different construction solid wood. Thanks for your post steve, will keep it in mind and was also looking into the eastman jazz elite.

I think a lovely Polytone Improv I is just the ticket - a 16" laminated, hollow archtop with 2 7/8" deep rims, 24 3/4" scale and all the swell tidbits. But…where to find such a special guitar?
Why, right here:

I'd be happy to charge you $2,000 for it!

Keep on the lookout for deals.

I second the Guild X175/X500 and ES165 suggestions.
