I have a nice little collection of amps ...
My DRRI is nice and sounds really great with my Gibson Le Grand ... which can sound crappy in other amps
I have a silver face Princeton (no reverb) ... a '68 IIRC ... I miss the reverb, but it is nice .... I need to get a modern power chord and plug on it, though .... it still has the 2 prong ungrounded plug ... I haven't played it in some time so it needs a good jam session
My first choice would be the DRRI ... compared to my Peavey Classic 50 4X12 the DRRI is not really heavy ... and you can always get a hand cart or dolly .... it's about the same weight as my Carr Rambler
If you don't have a lot of gigs with drummers and prefer the PRRI, maybe thats' the way to go

Gilad Hekselman using a small Fender, is that a Champ Reissue, sure sounds sweet:
-
Hekselman used my DRRI (Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker, JJ valves) for a gig earlier this year. He used the normal channel - volume at 10. He has a very light touch.
Kreisberg also borrows my amp when he's over. Runs it loud (8).

I don't know who your heroes are, but Wes Montgomery used a choco De Luxe that lived in the Creed Taylor studios. ( I am told ).I have the same amp, a 1963,and it sounds great. I find that 10" speakers sometimes don't quite get all the bass tones, although, being smaller in cone area, the attack is faster. You have to use your ears (which I'm sure you do)In the studio, the lack of bas can be compensated by the mixer board. Little tip...I use a Peavey Decade for home practise.
I changed the speaker from stock to a Jensen of the same size. The difference was amazing. More of everything. Here's a picture of my Wes studio collection ! No, I don't come anywhere close !

Cool DavidB. I may have heard your amp then, is it what Kreisberg uses at Bar Next Door? Sounds fantastic. Also I heard/saw Hekselman do a gig at Steinway house April last year and he had a Deluxe, yours?
Understand now why Hekselman's sound is so fat and warm - crank that amp to 10.
I have gone from a Deluxe to a Princeton and have it on 6 (will have to try 10) and turn down the guitar volume it is so much fatter, warmer and dynamic than a Fender on 2 or 3. I played with some funk guys recently, they looked at me sideways with contempt when I rocked up with a ES175 and a Princeton. Once we started playing they were staring and smiling.

Gads, resurrecting these older posts with Patrick's comments up front and reading them brings me down... OTOH newbies get to read his jive, which is VERY cool, that is unless they quote him, Shit...

I posted earlier and realized that I gravitate toward the Fender reissues. Amp of choice at the moment is my '59 Bassman LTD, but before that it was my DRRI head/Weber California Ceramic 15 and before that it was my DRRI combo, and before THAT it was a long-time playing partner's 11/67 SF Super Reverb.
I also have a non- reissue Fender or two, but I genuinely believe Leo got it right. Our job is to pull all the music we can out of 'em.

Whoa, daddy. I used to gig with a Tele/Pro Jr too. Great signal chain.

For you tele lovers, even Gilad Hekselman is on that trip, around the 3:30 mark, but listen to the whole, just wonderfull

Afraid not. I'm in London, UK. A number of NYC guitar friends (Kreisberg, Lund, Hekselman) have used my DRRI when passing through. The mojo is yet to rub off onto my playing!
