I don't feel like there's excessive noise with my old Fenders. When properly serviced, with quality components, they should operate like a new amp. Obviously, there's a bit more buzz using single coil pickups than with humbuckers but that goes without saying. The tone of these old amps are so good that I'd probably put up with a little extra racket if it existed though.

Main Amp? I use 3 depending on the gig:

78 Musicman RD65. For that FAT jazz gig, I've used this amp since 1987. Its really my main amp. Currently using custom programs in a Yamaha MagicStomp thru the effects loop. For fat guitars, I've had great luck over the years using hybrid amps (transistor preamps and tube power). Surprising examples include Peavey Vintage and Roland Bolt 60. But nothing has beat the bottom end and clarity of this Musicman RD65.

1966 Fender Deluxe Reverb. This is my 4th blackface Deluxe in 45 years. They're great! I've owned it since 1991. With a tweeked power section, Celestion Vintage 30, and an effects pedalboard I get the sustain and sound I like for fusion and blues stylings.

Peavey Vypyr 15. Shocker! For a $65 used piece of crap, it works really well playing solo dinner music. Light as a briefcase. However, I had to do extensive programming to get it to do the job.
