    Hey guys,

Happy soon to be Friday! So, I'm looking for a good guitar stand (I'm thinking of buying more than one single guitar stand, unless a "tree" is better....) that will be secure enough to keep my guitars safe in my house. I'm not looking for Road gear. One stand I have has sort of broken; the U shaped piece seems to have bent so it no longer keeps up the bottom of the guitar. Any suggestions?

Also, I'm looking for a keyboard stand. Nothing fancy, and I'm not going to "gig" with this keyboard stand (I can't even play lol). Rather, this stand is to be used for practicing in my house.

So, any suggestions for good guitar stand? Key board stand?

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

    Sam

I read recently that Hercules has retracted their claim of complete safety of their stands with nitro finishes. I don't have authoritative confirmation that this is true but I did read it in the last two weeks. I would research this before I paid their prices (again).

Currently on the Hercules web site:

Is SFF (Special Formulated Foam) safe for Nitrocellulose lacquer finish?

As a professional stand manufacturer, HERCULES goes to great lengths to provide the highest quality and the most secure stands. HERCULES had conducted numerous experiments on our SFF foam and is pleased to find that it does not react with most of the guitar finishes in the market, including Nitrocellulose. The tests included subjecting the instruments on the stand to heat, cold and normal temperatures for periods of up to six months without movement.

However, each manufacturer has their own formulation of Nitrocellulose, with differing proportions of the chemicals involved. There are literally thousands of different variations of lacquer in use today, making it impossible to test them all. Therefore, to provide your valuable guitars with the best support, we recommend you to refer to your instrument's owners manual for more information regarding the proper storage of your instrument.

I put an old sock on the neck rest and wrap the legs with stripes of old tshirts. The aroma is magnificent.

For travel, I like this K&M guitar stand. It's light weight aluminum and it adjusts to suit the depth of the instrument body.

I've been gigging with these for a dozen years:

    Peak Music Stands

They are solid, they set up easily, and they fit almost any size gig bag.

Negatives are that my smaller guitars (Johnny A and CS-356) don't sit in them quite right and that the rubber coating wears off over time. I've gone through two of them so far and am just starting #3, but at $20, it's not a big deal to buy a new one every five years.

I use a super cheap plastic folding stand for gigs as it fits in my gigbag. Just like this Millenium GS-2012 - Thomann UK

At home I've got a hercules stand for when my guitars are out of their cases.

I never leave guitars on stands, but when I use stands--when I'm gigging or practicing--I use Hercules stands. They work quite well. For gigging, I use the three sided "tree" by Hercules.

I use lots of keyboard stands. I have had good luck with On-Stage stands--the ones with double, rather than single-tubing on the sides. You can buy two-tier and three-tier set-ups, if you end up having to use a keyboard stack.

I gig with two keyboards, typically, when I am tasked to be the keyboard player in a situation. I use a keyboard for piano/synth work and a keyboard for organ work. an On-Stage double stand works well in this situation.

I've used an ULTIMATE IQ3000 dual cross bar stand for over a decade. But I have a full size 88 key board that weighs 80 pounds.

Still you don't want to go cheap for the cheaper you go the less stable your stand will be as you're playing. You don't want your stand rocking around the floor as your learning to play. I'd suggest getting a stand you can grow with should you choose to upgrade to a heavier board, while still having a solid foundation for the keyboard you're playing now.

+1 (agree with 2bop) You don't want to go cheap with a stand if you have a heavy synth or piano. A big Roland or Yamaha will be unstable on a flimsy stand...Nord, too.

These are expensive, but depending on the value of your guitar, you may find them worthwhile, especially since they have minimal contact with the instrument. The stands are light but extremely stable.

I got a Tiger kys21 stand. Very pleased with it, plus it allows space for amps underneath.

I've been using a Hercules stands for ages. I've got a double stand for gigs.
It's fine but there doesn't seem to be much out there to compete with Hercules.
I'd like to find a nicer looking, sturdy stand but everytime I investigate what's avalable - I end up staying with the Hercules.

Guitar stands, I've mainly stopped using floor style guitar stands at home since I've installed 'String Swing' hangers. The hangers work like a charm, keeping the guitars away from the critters, both 2 and 4 legged ones. I use an On-Stage 'Z' style keyboard stand for my Yamaha S90 piano. It's pretty heavy duty and folds up nicely.
