Give MojoTone a look. Check out the job they did on my old Gibson cabinet!

The tweed is a premium covering (compared to typical tolex) so it has its own markup. That being said, I believe the invoice for covering this cabinet, installing the grillcloth/feet/handle was $200. It was another $40 for the lacquer treatment. This was $100 less than other places I was getting quotes from. Very happy overall.

It took me awhile to settle on someone. It isn't that there aren't plenty of competent folks out there but MojoTone came highly recommended from some of the boutique builders I contacted, prices and delivery times were nicer. Been an absolute pleasure worrying with them and I plan on going back to them in the future.

Thanks, man! The circuit is getting completely overhauled.

Channel 2... this gets interesting. It will obviously have a volume control but it will also have a TMB stack. NOW.... the T and B will be bypassable leaving only a V and M (the M control is now a classic Tone) control. If you max out the Tone, that effectively takes it out of the circuit so... volume only. NOW.... you can also engage the T and B controls and max the M to have the T and B only controls. Of course, if you take the M down from max, you now have the full TMB Eq controls.
So... in a nutshell... CH2 can be Vol only/Vol and Tone/Vol, Treb and Bass/Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass. WHOOO. The difference between the CH1 Vol only and CH2 Vol only option is that, in CH1, it is smooth sailing to the power section.
Super awesome. Cannot wait.Last edited by barrymclark; 06-04-2015 at 10:17 AM.

Mojo does great work. I have used a bunch of their work--uniformly very good stuff (cabinets, I'm talking about).
-
That looks stunning! Mojotone is great. They are really down to earth too. I bought my Deluxe Reverb kit from them and it was very affordable with high quality components (though I wish glass epoxy eyelet boards were an optional upgrade. they only offer paper boards). I think they make cabinets for other boutique makers so it's not surprising the quality would be so good. My DR cabinet is flawless.
Congrats on the new cab. Post pics when you get it back together.
-
mojotone also built the cab for my old top hat amp (which didn't go so well). but the cab was great-- big full sounds, fairly light and sturdy as can be; i used it as a step ladder a few times while changing florescent bulbs in my kitchen. so they do good work.
i also have three of their pickups and i'm pleased with the results, pricing and experience.
i had thought of them as a lower end supplier (if at all) but no. they make really nice stuff and do great work.

It seems like we are having a Mojotone lovefest but if it's off topic just let me know.

Here is the DR cabinet / kit from Mojotone. The only thing I don't like is the faceplate is naked with no name so I used one of the cool stickers they put on the transformers and transformer boxes that says "Mojotone".
-
You know.... the make faceplates. So... if you need a custom one, they can always do one up for you.

Just saying. I am doing one up now for a buddy that works for Orange. Some sort of one off thing.Last edited by barrymclark; 06-04-2015 at 06:45 PM.

The faceplate is one of theirs. I just wish they would make a Mojotone branded faceplate or a metal plate you can tack on. Mojotone Fancy Reverb? Regalverb? It would give them free advertising and make the amps seem less generic... though as I am typing that I realize they may not want their name on stuff that Joe Everybody built.

Something like that can certainly be done though! Maybe not with MojoTone's name. But it can be done.

Yup. Always a way. The faceplate alone cost $28 from MojoTone. Not bad at all. I just made the artwork.

i'm not doubting the sounds, but they do look a little spartan for my taste, especially considering how pretty their work is for other builders.
but those 59 clone pickups, man. no joke.

The cab, badge and control plate arrived.

The rest of the componentry is in. Just need to verify that the speaker has arrived and the assembly should start this week or next.
