Ya, maybe I should not try to fix mine.

I had a mystery buzz on an Ibanez archtop and it turned out to be a loose bracing inside the body. The luthier found it by tapping the top of the guitar directly above the bracing until he found the buzz source. He applied glue and problem solved.

my afj81 rattled too and it was coming from PU-springs. I bought PU-tube from Göldo to replace my springs and the rattle noise was history. and besides I have the impression, that my guitar sounds more focused, but I don't know why and how the tubes could have something to do with that.

If you made it worse, you just found the source of your troubles.

Try to find someone familiar with archtop the typically repairman today mainly works on Rock guitars and archtop are foreign to them. They will say they can handle anything, but them about some of the archie's they've worked on.

There are so many things it can be...I had a couple different guitars where the noise was a vibrating pup selecter switch.

How many guys got something wedged 'tween the pup mounting ring and pup cover to stop noise?
