Here's a demo of the pedal straight into QuickTime with no reverb or any other effects or editing:

Please excuse the few clams, I was just trying to demonstrate the basic tone. I was able to get a pleasing tone right off the bat without a lot of tweaking. This demo was made with the following settings:

    Low: 11:00 O'clock
    Mid: 1:00
    High: 11:00
    Level: 3:00
    Voice: 10:00
    Drive: 10:00

I think this thing will be really really useful for gigs where I know that a PA is available. The pedal provides a ton of tone shaping possibilities. I'm really pleased with it. I haven't had a chance to try it out in front of any amps but I will eventually.
Would this pedal serve the same function as the Behringer GDI21 which I have in case my amp fails, but never had to use - yet!!! Thanks

I think that the Pedal is like an amp / speaker simulation rather than an overdrive pedal – to me it sounds best into a fullrange amplification system like a PA or acoustic amp – not so much into a guitar amp with a non-full-range speaker. My theory is that then you get the filtering twice – first from the pedal, then from the actual speaker.
I had good success running that pedal running into Di-Box into a PA – so later I bought a tech 21 fly rig later to have an all-in-one solution with efx, a tuner and XLR-out.

You will find the tech21 guys weigh in on this at other forums all the time. These pedals are effectively preamp gain stages. They often also have defeatable basic cab sims. Into FOH or PA go direct with the cab sim on. Into an effects loop return on your tube amp bypassing the amp preamp stage they are tops. if going into the front you need to set your amp eq to a flat response as much as possible. Otherwise you will be using it as a drive pedal and then colouring the sound with the amps signature tone.

I have both the blond and the paradriver di. The para has blend control so that you can para-eq a dry signal if you wish. Or blend in an amp response like drive.

On both the response is not just tonal eq, but also a degree of that ‘bounce’ type sponginess for want of better hyperboly.

the tech is analog and over a decade old. Do not use expecting IR type cab sims. That said I don’t see a need to buy into the difference unless I was a recording engineer which I am not. For my needs they are perfectly fine as many others have successfully found.

    cheers and enjoy the search
