If you like this kind of thing.. This is my 1997 ES175d. It is just as beautiful as the day I first laid eyes on it. The back looks like it was made from a prom dress. If you take care of these guitars, they stay as perfect as they were when they were 1st shipped from the factory. Just thought I'd share..

I'll take some saucy shots of mine tomorrow - it's just like yours :-)

I should just state that I find this kind of graphic exploitation of guitars to be in poor taste, and dehumanizing. It is likely to lead to (i) international trafficking in images, and guitars, of this type, (ii) possible recruitment and exploitation of less than mature stands of virgin timber, (iii) severe losses of self-esteem, on the part of other guitars who are not as blessed by nature (and their builders) with "perfect" proportions, (iv) unhealthy infatuation/obsession with guitar purchasing, collecting, compulsive comparison shopping and tonal "cork sniffing", and (v) myopia, from long computer sessions, by those who indulge this vice.
In fact, it is rumored that Bruce(lla) Jenner may go on a syndicated talk show to discuss "How a Gibson J200 caused me to peddle the Kardashian body image to the masses." Stop guitar smut, now, gentlemen, before it takes over your life!Last edited by goldenwave77; 02-07-2015 at 05:51 PM. Reason: Don't even mention that Satin "nighty"

Nice guitar indeed, love the flame maple, no one would ever guess it is 18 years old !
-
Thanks everyone. I have no motive for doing this. It won't be for sale for sure. There are sentimental reasons why I love this guitar so much. I learned on a 1953 175d. Nothing feels better in my hands.
I know what you mean about the tan. But I like this one just the way it is. thanks guys. JDLast edited by Max405; 02-07-2015 at 11:19 PM.

Anything younger would be exploitation of a minor.

Hey, that guitar and I are both products of '96! Of course, I didn't age nearly as well. What a gorgeous guitar, especially the neck joint.

Beautiful blondes !!! Just like Marilyn Monroe.

The thing is, they are beautiful for sure, but they play so well. They feel substantial in your hands. I've played a lot of the copies, and some are good. But to me, nothing feels the same. Nothing.

Patrick, I name all my guitars and named my blonde L5 Marilyn. I have every movie she ever made and countless books on her. She will always be my goddess of choice. Their will never be another MM.

It is a shame Gibson stopped making these beautiful flamed blonde 175's. The VOS 1959 blondes don't hold a candle IMO. Blondes do have more fun !!! Beautiful axes my friends.

You guys all have some nice, blonde ES175d guitars. There is some serious jazz going on in the JGO neighborhood.
I owned a 175 for over 30 years, and only gave it up to acquire a Super Eagle from Patrick2. The ES175 is the crown prince among jazz guitars. Think of all of the great guitarists who have employed it: Jimmy Raney, Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Herb Ellis, Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, ... , the list goes on and on. The tone from a 175 through a good amp is sublime.
In every monarchy though, the crown prince's father is the king. In this instance, the "king" of jazz guitars, IMO, has got to be the L5CES. I'm not trying to run down the 175, mind you. I personally selected the 175 years ago in preference to the L5. But looking back at the list of L5 players and listening to the recordings...and reflecting on my own notes from playing scores of both 175s and L5s, I would give the senior archtop the throne.

Prince, King, both royalty turning away pretenders.......

Not a big fan of the blonde look but have to admit the ones shown here are nice indeed. Jenner does not hold a candle...just sayin.
