For anyone interested here's Tokai UK's page on the UFA-180.
Tokai Guitars - UFA180
I know for some time the FA-235 was being marketed as a signature model for the Manouche Jazz wunderkind Andreas Varady. Here's a clip of the guitar and the player in action.

The forum is still not letting me post pics of any size in Jpeg format.
Is anyone else having the same issue?

Varady is just....

Tokai, Greco and others have all made recent copies of the ES175, my favorite of that model being the ones with mahogany necks. Just like Pat Metheny's old 58. To me the tonal equation is more complete with the mahogany neck. Had my share of late 70s Ibanez 175 copies (some with flame maple laminated tops), all very worthy guitars.
You did quite well. Enjoy
(Metheny's 175, Villa Montalvo June 1990. Really more beat to hell that it looks, gaffers tape all over the sides, that thing under the neck pickup is a New Kids On The Block sticker. His tech Carolyn was giving me the evil eye while I was trying to get as close to the gear as I could. Amazing show, Parallel Realities Tour with Jack DeJonette, Herbie Hancock and Dave Holland. I've seen Hendrix, seen the Beatles, see Janis - this was one of the mightiest shows I ever attended - went two nights. Small venue, I was about 15 rows back giving anyone that started chatting the death stare. LOL

Although Earlier stuff did have them, so they can do it. They just stopped bothering around the late 70's. and started putting bi-truss rods in instead ;-)
Tell you what though, I never liked the colour of the rosewood on it. You can see its kinda grey to black. That put me off.Last edited by Archie; 01-18-2015 at 12:50 PM.

Both those instruments DRIP tone... Archtop Heaven, they surely used some nice burl veneer on yours. Reminds me of some of the early GB10s in NT. What you think Terada or Fuji Gen Gakki ?? Whoever made these had some very nice specs handed down to them. My dream is the single pickup version.

Heres the latest offering I got from Terada and the quality is simply stunning. This is one of the finest pieces I have seen not only in the Epiphone range period (bar the early US years of course) but its probably the finest crafted and finished piece I've seen come out of Japan (apart from my very rare 1981 Washburn J-10)
if you get the chance to grab one, don't hesitate, just try and get her in Red, not Orange.
Sorry slight thread diversion.
