I guess that depends on how hard headed you think you are! :-)

I use 2 Hiscox artist range cases, one 17'', one 18''. if I go out with a more valuable guitar, I will always put it into one of those cases. They are incredibly durable, very high quality, watertight, and look great. Not too heavy either. Certainly more protective than the old (or even new) Gibson cases that I use when at home. Only negative point is that if one would check the case in as baggage when flying, then the shutters are at risk, since they protrude a little from the body, enough to be knocked off in case of a more serious impact.

Like you, I have an Artist level Hiscox case that I hold in high regard. As to the issue of the latches being vulnerable to damage, I think you're on to something, but I think the solution would be to pick up a case cover if you're flying frequently. One of the reasons I purchased the case to begin with was that I found the product demonstration video on their website to be compelling.

Thanks, I concur. Btw, I just saw I made a mistake, my Hiscox cases are 16 and 17 inches, so for a ES175 and an L5, they dont produce an 18 inch case (unfortunately). Still struggling to find something comparable for an older s400, the case of which is unfortunately rather fragile.
