Yolandateam Oval Soundhole Build

I commissioned this guitar a few months ago. I was so happy with my first that I decided to order another. This guitar I hope will fill a space kind of between a traditional "archtop" sound and a flattop acoustic. I play some jazz, but I also do a lot of singer-songwriter type music, and I'm hoping this will fit the bill, while also offering a bit of a different sound and aesthetic than the norm.

Anyway, I couldn't resist posting the photos. 17" non-cutaway, x-braced, 3.25" deep, honey blond stain.

Jim, is it from Yunzhi or Yolandateam (Lora - Mr. Wu) ?
I'm asking 'cause I lost contact with Lora, wich some weeks wrote she was at hospital. Hope she is doing well...

Sorry, this is a Yolandateam, I typed Yunzhi in the title without thinking about it. Lora emailed me about a week ago saying she was in the hospital and would write when she got home, and then I just got this email with photos yesterday.

I'm also getting an oval hole Mr. Wu guitar though mine will have a cutaway. Lora has provided a very consistent interface and I'm very impressed with the service I'm getting. I offered to pay $100 to fix a problem that was completely my fault (headstock logo the wrong size). They said it would be $40. Also there were a few communication issues on the burst.. they simply modified it to what I wanted. Hard to stop buying these things.

Is the depth something that you can spec? I am new to the idea of actually getting something completely custom.

Yeah, you can spec pretty much anything you want, and they will do their best to make it for you. There is somewhat of a language barrier, so asking for something completely custom may be somewhat of a process. For simple modifications like body depth it's pretty straight forward though.

There are some things I would recommend you don't modify. Scale length, for instance, should be left alone.

Also, if it wasn't clear, Yunzhi and Hotman are different companies. Hotman is supported by Yolandateam and are built by Mr. Wu.

Hi, Everyone,

Yes, I am out of the hospital now, Just need rest at home and my baby in my body is ok too.He is 27weeks now. After 12weeks around, I will be Mom. ^.^ exciting and anxious now.

And here I want to make it clear that now I am working with Mr Wu and our company name is yolanda team services comany limited. and not yunzhi any more.

I will keep check my email every day and try to reply in 24hours.

Hi Lora. I was wondering why (so many of) the captions don't match the pictures. For example, "14inch cutaway Handmade jazz guitar" is obviously a full-size 17" guitar.

To answer your question, if the site says it is a 14 inch, that is what you are ordering even if the photo doesn't perfectly match. I just got my old Yunzhi back from some serious upgrading (new Bartolini pickup and Schatten pots) and really love what they did - this was made back when Lora and Yunzhi were kinda wet behind the ears new. Lora was great the whole way and the instrument is just so amazing. If you are dealing with Lora she will handle your order, it is something everyone should try once. From what I have seen here Mr. Wu is making some sweet guitars. That YZ23 I got 3 1/2 years ago is my go to guitar now... (essentially a John Pisano but with a floating pickup, really sweet sounding).

For the photos showed on the website, it just shows that we can make that guitar in different size. from 14inch to 18inch, any size you want, we can make it.

Looks wonderful. Were the luthier to change the headstock, I would certainly believe it was a $4,000 custom build. They are really upping their games at the Chinese custom shops.
