To all interested parties, a practice to be applied while in the pursuit of marital bliss.
When making a purchase for yourself be sure that whatever you get her is of equal or greater value. The latter is more guarenteed to achieve the desired result.
Also a sure fired way to cut back on ones spending habbits.

I had a chance to get an ES-345 a couple of years ago. I wanted the ES-335 but loved the looks of the ES-345 with those block inlays and other appointments - but considered it to be about the same as the 335.
I was concerned about the Varitone circuit and found a maelstrom of information and misinformation on its affect on the guitar's tone.
In the end, even though I have not played them side-by- side, I concluded that you should be able to get a good 335 tone, among the many other tones available.
I just bought a new amp with the money I was saving for the 335, but if in a year or so, I get the opportunity to get an ES-345 or Lucille (or the ES-355), and my money is right, I hope to join you.
Again, congratulations on your guitar and your choice of partner.

Cheers, AlsoRan. It's true, I could have chosen a 335 or a 345, or even a 355, but Lucille is a great guitar, and I love BB King above all blues players. I'd be happy with any of those guitars, though. But Lucille it is.

Happy birthday !
Happy NGD !
But what will you do with this Varitone ?
Don't you prefer tweak the knobs on guitar and amp ?
Please post pics when you get her in hand !

I can't view that video on my iPad, for some reason.
Why would a varitone prevent me from tweaking the knobs on the guitar and amp?

Great guitar! Even greater is the gesture and love that put it in your hands. A treasure!
