Where are you all purchasing Ultem from and which grade/variety do you find yields the best results for a pick?

I've seen a reference to Ultem 1000 and I've seen it in a grey color.. don't know the difference but the amber stuff on Ebay (search for Ultem Plastic) is what we're working with here.

Guy, the polycarbonate does sound nice. Going to have to dig around the shop and see what scraps I have left of it.
If I remember correctly, it needs to be cut/shaped at a slow speed to prevent melting so used all hand tools on it the last time I worked on it.


Spook, thanks for the heads up for a source. I didn't realize that an Internet search for it was going to turn up so many varieties for use in various fields such as healthcare and aerospace and that it can withstand high heat and has chemical resistance.
