The LGB-30 is the chinese version that sells for $1099. See, even their marketing trade names are confusing...

Is the AF155 worth the extra £250 above the AFJ95 ?

    Any thoughts/experience on that ?

I'm probably gonna get one or the other

When I was shopping for mine, I played those two side by side going back and forth a few times. Both my wife and I preferred the sound of the AFJ95. I might have been just that pair, but the AFJ95 was decidedly "warmer" sounding.

Just my personal opinion but no doubt It'll be shot down by a certain person. I've played an LGB30, I nearly bought one instead of the 300, sound wise very similar to the the AFJ95 but slightly softer to my ears, same pickups but ebony board and wooden tailpiece, 20 frets and they have a bone nut and the same dimensions as the AFJ the finish is immaculate on them. I just picked up a 2000 Korean built Epiphone ES175 built at the Unsung factory in immaculate condition £350/$582 on Ebay, big surprise when it came was it has Classic 57's fitted.

Just be careful before buying any recent MIC Ibanez. My AS153 needed excessive fretlevelling, though after that still a decent price with in total 800 USD.

Just received the SF301 solid spruce top only sold in Japan but MIC with the same trouble. My Luthier friend is happy :-). Nice guitar though.

Even Japan needs to pay wages and high skilled staff will require higher salaries. No wonder the LGB or GB are priced that way.

The brand value can cope with low quality for a while but needs to adjust before the reputation deteriorates the consumers expectation. How many people really appreciate the guitar itself and not the brand, the looks, the endorser or the image they want to gain.

When I've changed the strings I'll compare it to the Gibson.
