Tracking the Gibson L-5 Doublecut’s
1st - The Original, The Byrdland Double Cutaway, built in 1962 for Billy Byrd.
Cherry Sunburst with a Byrdland tailpiece, serial 57085.
Now owned by Michael Thompson of Mike’s Arch Angels, and Bigsby tailpiece added later.

1 x Collector’s Edition in Natural was posted online pre-2019 – it’s no longer seen online (year and serial unknown)

1 x 2014 - Musicians Friend – Tri-burst-Vintage Sunburst - 11964003

I considered acquiring one of these in tea burst when they were available much cheaper than a standard L5CES. But then a used Wesmo became available for $5k and I acquired it. Still, I was always curious about the DC!

Lots of picture and video references, including the original 1962-63 Gibson Byrdland Double Cutaway made for Billy Byrd, and sold to Mike Elia who had loaned it to the Country Music Hall of Fame, before being sold to Michael Thompson of Mike's Arch Angels.
