Anybody catch this in the new Musician's Friend catalog? And only $799.
If you go to the website and search for the kingpin cw II, a small thumbnail pic will come up in the crawl below the P90 equipped model...but if you click on that, the page for the actual guitar says "photo coming soon."
Does this guitar exist? Would be a fantastic first archtop or backup guitar if it did...

I can't get it to show up like you describe! The suspense is killing me!

Got it! The site was region locked to "outside of the us" with a different inventory. Looks like a musician's friend exclusive. Cool!

Unfortunately typed "musicians fried" into Google and got a totally different web-site.

With each new 5th avenue release, I keep hoping this time finally I'll see a cutaway acoustic version.
I had the kingpin with single p90 and couldn't live without the cutaway so i moved on. But the guitar sounds and plays great...
-
"This Godin 5th Ave CW Kingpin II Cutaway is a special version made for Musician's Friend by our friends in Quebec. It features a Cutaway body design and the focused sound of two Godin Humbucking pickups instead of P-90s."
The international MF web-site quotes a UK price of £505 - but they won't sell it to the UK - doh.
Any members in the US feel like setting up a temporary export business ?
-
It'd be interesting to see if they'll do any other special runs...
I'm actually considering getting one...would be a perfect backup to my 575, and I could take it to work/school and not be so worried about it...
-
Mr B.
If you are looking for moral support to make up your mind, I'll certainly lend you some. It's half the price of a Composer GT !
Lets hope it wasn't just a case of running out of P90s one Friday !
-
Sweet price. The 5th Avenue Composer has a single neck HB and it's $1,200.
-
I definitely prefer the look of that over the black plastic dog-ears, but I really do like the sound of my P90s...

Had some trouble getting it to open but here's the specs:
A full hollowbody with the power of dual humbuckers.
This Godin 5th Ave CW Kingpin II Cutaway is a special version made for Musician's Friend by our friends in Quebec. It features a Cutaway body design and the focused sound of two Godin Humbucking pickups instead of P-90s.
With the soul of a 1950’s archtop, the 5th Avenue is a true vintage spirit of yesterday with today’s level of modern playability. With more projection & volume in the low/mids than traditional archtop acoustic guitars, the dynamically rich tone of the 5th Avenue makes this sophisticated instrument a dream to play, but not a nightmare to pay for. The Godin 5th Avenue now makes the affordable North American archtop guitar a reality! From Alt-Country, Delta Blues, Slide, Jazz to Rock, the 5th Avenue can really deliver both acoustically and electrically.
Made from Canadian wild cherry, the body of the 5th Avenue features a molded arched top and back, as well as an adjustable bridge, classic f-holes, contoured high-gloss headstock, floating pickguard and cream binding. Finished in semi-gloss, this special model comes with a TRIC case.
Features- Canadian wild cherry archtop
- Canadian wild cherry back & sides
- Silver Leaf maple neck
- Contoured high-gloss black headstock
- Semi-gloss finish
- Rosewood fingerboard
- Adjustable Tusq Bridge by Graph Tech

-
The price is right!
If you want a double-HB archtop with impeccable construction, you can't go wrong here. That price is hundreds below any of the other similar Godin offerings--about the same as the Kingpin with a single P90.

Hey, I know quite a few of those guys.

Beer battered, of course.
I really don't need to spend the money right now....but somebody here needs to buy one of these. Don't we have a "best jazz guitar under 1k" thread here every week? THIS IS PROBABLY IT, KIDS.
-
Yes, as I started the last "best guitar under 1k (GBP)" thread, I do really need one. But due to MF's geographically discriminatory practice*, they won't sell me one. When will the USA finally see sense and join the European Union

Interestingly, whilst Musician's Friend can't sell me a new Godin, they will sell me a mint used Composer GT, for about £300 less than the UK new price. Unfortunately, by the time I've added carriage and taxes, £220 of that saving has been snatched- mainly by the UK government.

Just received a MF catalog in the mail with the Twin HB Kingpin selling for $795. MSR $1349, regular price of $1095. The Cognac Burst is the only finish listed.
-
This is back on sale for $749 (even cheaper). There's also a 15% off labor day coupon going on right now. Sooo $638.
I never post here, but I saw this thread few months back when the sale wasn't running. I just figured I'd give a heads up!
I bought a gift certificate a while back for 15% off gift certificates and combined it with the current 15% off labor day coupon. That brings me down to $541.
I waited until it shipped before I posted here. Pretty sure it shouldn't stack, but it still works.
Regards.

played this the other day...
Godin 5th Avenue Joseph Arthur CW Kingpin II | Rainbow Guitars
also played another kingpin 2 next to it.
the j arthur was much more acoustic.
nice but too gaudy for me
-
J. Arthur. How very appropriate.
-
You may need to explain that to the non-UK community !

usa here, looked it up, funny...
urban dictionary: j arthur:
Short for J Arthur Rank (British Film Producer). British rhyming slang for Wank.
I had a good J Arthur in the shower last night.

How about 'Septic'?
