    If you are in Europe, I would really take a serious look at the Hofners. If you are in Asia, I would take a look at the Ibanez, Aria and Eastman. If you are close to Japan, I would take a look at www.walkin.co.jp and check out the Made in Japan Archtop Tribute archtops.

    The safe choice would be to follow your own heart, close your eyes and find the best sounding and playing ES-175 you can. For my money, I would look for a mid to late 80s ES-175 with the mahogany neck, back and rim. You may grow out of it but I don't know anyone who hates it.

    As for the ES-335, no problem flipping it wherever you may be.

    Is an ibanez GB10 from 1979 good for jazz and will it satisfy my jazz needs in the long run? thanks

    It seems to me that only you can answer that ... But GB10s are certainly awesome jazz guitars - well, good enough that GB himself used them for decades on the road.
