Hi all. Will be doing a three week production of "Promises, promises." any recommendations for a wah-wah pedal? Ideally I'd like something that doesn't need a battery. (Prefer ac adapter.) Thanks.

    Hi Woody Sound,

I'm also interested by all the answers for that question.

The Budda Budwah looks quite cool.

    Hello.
There is only one and that is the original and best...
The Vox Wah-Wah: I bought mine in the 1960s and it is still going strong.
I also have the Vox V847 Wah-Wah pedal, which is an enhanced version of the original, Battery/mains.
The battery is supposed to play for 100hrs but I have not tested it.

Really like the MXR CAE wah. Widely available. Sounds great and very versatile.

I am also interested in such a pedal for a funk project.
Related question: Does Scofield also use a Wah wah pedal?

He uses an old Digitech Whammy Wah.

Take a look at the wahs from Wilson Effects. One man shop and priced affordably. I have his signature wah which is basically a Vox Clyde McCoy clone.

Slightly different idea - I have a Steve Vai signature "Bad Horsie" Morley wah. Has a level and range setting but the cool thing about it is that it is switchless - in the sense of no big mechanical switch. Movement switches it on, and the tiny delay time between stepping on it, and its activation is adjustable. Also, wide and robust - no way will it flip over..David

Budda, a great choice, one of the nicest wahs I've tried. I ended up with a Fulltone, another great wah, but I still think of the wah goodness that a Budda would have given me.

I don't need no wah-wah, and I know how sweet life can be. If I keep myself free from the wah-wah, I don't need no wah-wah.

The Digitech pedal pictured is a Wah/Volume that Avi Bortnick uses. At 18:08 he says, "almost no one uses these things, everyone thinks they suck". He then goes on to describe what he likes about it. LOL. I have the same pedal and agree on both counts.

    "Wah-wah suggestions?"

But of course...try Issac Hayes 'Shaft' LP, arguably one of the finest film soundtracks of all time..Hayes' studio work on the album was complimented by the group, The BarKay's. Another album honorable mention is 'Cafe Regio's'....1971...it was a very good year!

I have been using a new wah-wah pedal for about a year and am very happy with it. It's called a "Japanese Girl" and is available from a seller on Ebay for about $129.

The cool thing about this pedal is that it's only the size of a Boss pedal, so it goes on a pedalboard or in a bag really easily. I had no trouble getting used to the small size, and the sound is as good as any I've had. ('60s Vox, Bud Wah, Clyde.) I play some R&B and Funk gigs and this little pedal is really working for me.

It depends on the sound you're after, wether vintage or more modern wah sound.
I currently use and strongly recommend a Geoffrey Teese RMC 6 which retains most of the vintage sound while being versatile, thanks to different settings easy to adjust.
Ice on the cake, it's hand made in USA....

    Hi Bill,

Sorry, I'm not equipped for good recordings at home. Only the webcam mic : that's awful.

    Hi mambosun,

I read good reviews about RMC6 including yours.
So, I posted a review about the Budwah on the AF site (in French).
It's too bad, we can't try them all before buying.

There looks to be a 15% off sale at Wilson Effects. I'm telling you, his wahs are great, tons of options to choose from and reasonably priced. I have his Wilson Signature Wah with the vintage wiring/components option (basically a Clyde McCoy clone). Been loving it. Check them out here.
