My favorite is the Arion SCH-1. I like the Faux Leslie thing. Think Michael Landau.

I almost never use chorus any more, but it used to be ubiquitous in my rig. For many years I got attached to the SPX-90 Pitch Change C. Then years after I started using it I found that Mike Stern used the same thing. It does have a very identifiable sound. I still prefer that, but because it's in an SPX-90, and I still have three of them, I never use it. If I was still attached to a chorus effect I might pull it out. But now I use my Fractal Axe Fx II, or simpler a Carl Martin Quattro when I have to have it on a song or two.

+1 on the old Arion Chorus pedals. Check guitar center's used site. I got really lucky and bought one cheap because they didn't realize it was a vintage one. They're going up in value.

FYI: Not small compared to a Boss pedal, but looking not all that big either... I just came across this Rivera 3D Shaman pedal today...

If you're interested, here's a page with several YouTube videos...

Looks interesting. This Shaman kind of reminds me a bit of the controls (although much more comprehensive) on my grand old CE-1 (see #19 above). Does anybody here have one or has tried one of these Shamans out? Thanks!

Thanks for all the info, some of which was comical to read. Although it will just be another toy, I think it will be a Boss Pedal, small and easy to operate.

Update: my TC Corona in still on my board, or on my floor, to be precise. There's two types of chorus I'm trying to avoid:
1. Shimmering arpeggiated overkill. Think Police and new wave bands.
2. Aggressive wobble, often on overdriven guitars. Makes me seasick!
So, I've been using it subtly. On held chords it adds a touch of tremolo, which is cool.
But then I wanted to push it. One control on the Corona is the Dry/Wet mix; if you turn it all the way to wet, the original signal drops out and you essentially have a vibrato pedal. Then there's a switch that takes you from normal chorus to "tri-chorus", which has two modulated voices (out of phase with each other) instead of one modulated voice.
So I rolled the mix all the way to wet and flipped it to tri-chorus. The result is a doubled effect. Dial speed and depth to make it prominent, EQ it fairly dark, set the reverb to Tile, for a tight, slap-back sort of verb. Fun!

that doesn't sound too different from the '61 harmonic trem setting on the flint. it has that slight, phasery throb to it. i wonder if that's what they modeled it after. anyway, it sounds good and your song was pretty neat.

every now and again, i like to double check to make sure i still hate chorus, so i checked out a few demos of the dimension c and the mr black double chorus. yup, i'm good! though to be fair, the mr black was the least offensive chorus i've heard in some time. maybe you guys could give that one a shot. albeit shamefully.

I much appreciate that comment! Jazz, maybe someday ...

I don't have much use for typical chorus these days but I have a TC Electronics SCF on my board.
I have it set for kind of an Eric Johnson clean sparkle which it does beautifully. It's a very expensive pedal for the amount I use it but it's so quiet and does not seem to affect the base tone so I keep it.
I have heard good things about the TC Corona.

I like the Mad Professor Electric Blue Chorus. It can be dialed in to be super subtle but can also be dialed in to do the John Schofield thing.

bless your heart. the heavily chorused piezo acoustics has to be one of my least double favorite sounds ever. i don't know if i hate it more than the regular over chorused cleans, but wow, do i ever hate it. there is no excuse for it, ever.
the electric blue still doesn't sound all that terrible, but i think i'll manage without it. i can always dial up a little modulation from my delays or reverb if i have to.

STRYMON OLA - stereo outputs and expression pedal input. secondary features and a favorite button. compact size, reasonable price for the quality of tone and features. Absolutely the hottest pedals on the market right now. highly recommended!
