I personally hate V30s - worst jazz speakers with that high.mid emphasis. In my opinion of course.

I wasn't impressed with the jazz sound in that clip either though the playing itself was good.

Recently compared them to some other speakers in an amp for rock applications and the V 30's sounded exceptional,
very warm, rich, and vibrant. The thick high mids were just in the sweet spot for guitar. A real winner!!!

A very efficient speaker, which I liked, deep lows that were very defined and punchy, great punch and clarity
in the mids right in the "sweet spot" for guitar, and the highs were exceptionally smooth and sweet sounding.
A very warm rich presentation overall with just the right amount of bite, and in the sweet spots, to sound great
and cut through the mix onstage. A real winner!!!

Never tried them in a jazz amp tho which is why I asked.

Yeah - it's a matter of taste. Rockers usually like them, they sound good with ODs and cut trough the mix well. I tend to use the same sound for rock or jazz so they don't work for me anyway

If I was using a Twin Reverb right now I'd probably check out that Jensen C12K 100 that George Benson uses.
To my ears it's actually a lot like a V 30 with maybe even fatter rounder highs and a lil less of a presence hump.
Now if it only has that wonderful 3D sound quality of a V 30?

Boy life would be so much easier if I was just a rocker. Slap in some Greenbacks and call it a day LMAO but I need
    more versatility than that.

Yes the V30 is a fabulous speaker for some applications, honestly not sure if it works for jazz or not.
The recommendations I've been getting here say "no" so I'll keep looking for versatile speakers.

On another note the Celestion seventy eighty speakers fender has been using in some amps recently
are not even as good as the Fender/Eminence "special design" speakers they used to use IMHO.
Maybe a name more rock players will flock to but not necessarily a better sound, and the sound is
all that really matters after all. IMHO the Celestion Seventy/Eighty lacks "balls" and definition in the lows
and the highs can be a bit fatiguing on the ears, IMO of course.

The WGS ET-65 gets lots of praise from both rockers and jazzers. Never tried them though...

HA! funny you mentioned that one. Heard it before and it's terrible with a capital T.
I'm really liking Eminence right now. After all they are made in the USA and they have a huge line of speakers
to offer, something for everybody. I know they have some versatile models that will excel for jazz and also
    other styles like rock.

Just hope they are paying their USA workers at much better wages than poverty wages. I just don't understand how
American company owners/executives can be "proud"/boastful about how they employ American workers and riding
around on their yacht's while many of their "American workers" can't afford formula for their babies. That's shameful,
nothing to be proud of. I don't know what the situation is over at Emi but I hope they're doing much better than that
    for their workers?

If it's any point of reference, Twins with JBL's were very popular with Pedal Steel players and still are. If you are carring around a D-10 Emmons Push/Pull what's a mere 90 lbs added to that rig? Lloyd Green was one of the PSG players that used a Twin with JBL's and lots of guys are still chasing his tone-crisp, clean and full of chime on the harmonics. In the wrong hands, though, can be almost painful.

And yes, the Vibrosonic is basically a Twin with a 15" JBL or other 15" speaker. They can be a good value as not many people know what they are. They were discontinued around '81-'82. If you can handle the weight they are a fantastic amp for jazz guitar. They weren't as popular with steel players they were looking for 200W of clean power and a 15" speaker-hence the Peavey Session 400, 500 etc which is still a popular steel amp variations are still being produced today.

I have had my Twin Reverb Reissue (it's used, probably 4 or 5 yrs old) for a bout 2 months now. It has the brown Fender speakers & they sound great! I have owned a fair amount of amps over the yrs, but I have to say when I plugged into the Twin is was like I discovered the electric guitar for the first time. There is really nothing like a Twin.

I should play with the settings a little more. Most often I use it with a big band and have the vol. at about 6, Treble 3, Mid 4, Bass 4, and I like those settings a lot. But, again, I haven't really used it a lot in different rooms or tweaked the settings much. I use the same settings with either my 335 or my L5CES. My only complaint with the amp (besides the unreasonable weight of it) is that there is very little useable adjustment room on the reverb. The reverb sounds great, but you really don't want to get above 2. I have heard that swapping out the 12AT7 tube in the V3 position and replacing it with a 12AU7 will create more reverb space for adjustment. I might try that.

Also I'm playing in bigband two days in a week for practice and some event stages.
I keep the own same sounds by each any amps which front of the speaker's mic points.
Always tilt the amps by legs or amp stand.
