I am seriously impressed by a forum member and while this doesn't have anything to do with gear, I thought this was worth posting anyway.
Yesterday I listened to Kris' post on the showcase forum of his version of Wives and Lovers. It just Kris, an acoustic bass and a vocalist and it's absolutely world class. Seriously. All three of them are great and the interplay is perfect. I've listened to it several times and it's the sort of thing I'm happy to pay money for. Here's a link to his post and maybe someone can make this more on topic by asking him what gear he used. I just think that if one of the forum regular's does something at this level it deserves all of our support. so my congratulations to Kris on a job very well done.

Kris is a world class player, in my opinion, and a good guy too.
it also doesn't hurt that he's Polish.

Thank you very much Jim and Jeff...:-)

Let's hear it for that stunning vocalist as well!
-
Yeah, that was definitely impressive. It was performed as a song, by all three. I'm one of those who definitely appreciates when people perform a song . . as opposed to just playing.
Great work Kris . . . wonderful accompaniment of a brilliant vocalist. As for the bassist . . . I guess the best compliment I can give him is that . . . the song wouldn't have been nearly the same, or as good, without him .. . yet, I couldn't eve tell he was there.

Beautiful ... and timeless.
Please forgive me for breaking the charm but i have a noob question:
Kris, i heard you many times as you regularly post some mp3 here and i am always
liking your phrasing, but it leaves me wondering, like on this piece above:
for the solo part, do you also play with your fingers or (what i think) use a pick that was
tucked in your hand ?
Thank you

Wow. that was really lovely. So uncluttered and poignant, without being overly sentimental. The brief solo illustrates how much the right note choices and the right time really matters. Looking forward to the finished record. Thanks very much for posting it.
Something for all of us to aspire to. Give me a few years!

Nice, very nice. Vocalist is right on. The whole trio is tight.

Good call Jim. Beautiful on so many levels. Loved the playing, singing and overall mood. Thanks for that Kris!

I want to climb onboard and pay homage to Kris too. A nice guy, fine player, and very helpful and generous with his talent and skills. I've been saving all the transcriptions that he has kindly shared. One of the main reasons why I keep coming back here. I know he's a big Sco fan...

Kris, that's great. I love the approach, arrangement and the reharms. 180 degrees from Jack Jones. Awesome!
