"Your new uptiscrunch is proudly equipped with whiz bang "brand name here" strings, so THAT's how it's different... maybe?
So YES there are better things in this world and some haven't found them, but I think "I" have :-0

[PatrickDue] >>> so, all of a sudden you're sensitive???
Oooooww! Don't yell at me right now, I'm watching Oprah.

Relax, GNAPPI
Just thought the title was odd.
And yes: there are more important things in this world than to (now) bitch on a guitar forum.

Is revisionist-jackassism a word?

You suggested that it was an odd title. Re-read the trail.
Pompous a-hole.
I'm done, boys.
Have better things to do.

No . . . but "jackassism" probably is! lolololololol

Yeah, the hyphenated word WAS pompous - and apparently not literally correct.
But back on strings,...
Since you (P2) play so many big boxes with (widely) varying degrees of acoustic-o-sity (oops) what do you do for strings?
Do you go flat for electric fat-Wes emphasis and round for back-to-basics acoustic sounds even when amplified? Ever tried LaBella tapewounds?

I mentioned here a few times that I'm just not one of those people who are on an endless quest for "that" tone. I don't torture myself trying the make good tone sound "gooder" or great tone sound "greater". I've always had all of my archies strung with D'ad Chrome flat wound .012s. I was pretty OK with that. I finally gave in to my curiousity, which was created by all of the posts about how much better TIs were than D'ads. So, I tried a set. I found the Thomastik Infeld .012s to feel like a lighter gauge . . . maybe .011s. But, I like them so I thought I'd go up to .013s. But, first, I had to know why the perceived difference. I spoke with a CS rep at TI. He gave me an education on the difference between a hex core and a round core. Who knew???? So, now the last 3 archies I received are strung with .013 TIs. Gradually, I will convert the others as well. I do like the feel and the tone better.

I do not wish to try to learn to overcome it and I adamantly refuse to put anything on my strings to prevent it.
My semi hollows and solid bodies have .011s and .010s respectively. They are round wounds. Different guitars and different technique. A lot of bending and more of a need for increased sustain and decreased decay.
"Yep!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it."

The squealing and squeaking for me was the reason I went to flat wounds, and before that ground wounds. I just couldn't take the squeaking.
