I have roland Cube 60 ... it's nice amp and very versatile ... wil cover you for rock and blues sounds if you want that, too
I also have a Henriksen 112, a Fender DRRI, and a Carr Rambler
For sweet jazz tones the Roland holds its own with these amps by putting out some nice solid state tones of it's own ..... if you want tube/valve flavor the Roland doesn't really compare to the DRRI and Carr
The Roland is also light and compact ... it should fit easily in a car boot (or trunk) or make for any easy ride on the local trains or subway
Those other amps get great reviews here ... so you will probably be pleased with whichever one you want for an easy to carry jazz amp .. as long as your aren't expecting singing angels as you acheive the ultimate jazz nirvana

A used polytone mega brute or an old orange covered Roland cube would be worth a look if in good condition

I'd get a Polytone with an 8" speaker as the grab and go to back up a Polytone with a 15" speaker. That's what I've used for years and years. I have the 8", 12", and 15" model brutes. The best sounding one of the bunch is actually the BabyBrute with the 8" speaker. That little speaker is just right for guitar, and the little, one cubic-foot cabinet it resides in is great for subway work.
Find a Baby or Teeny Brute.

All you really need is a reusable BabyBrute sticker you slap onto the subway wall.

Agree that a cheap backup for a polytone is...another polytone, certainly here in the US.
