His opinion I respect - he totally knows his stuff, like no-one else I've met before - he absolutely raves about Collings. Said their quality control was basically perfect, yet unlike other brands that have high QC, they're not bland and uniform in tone, but are still unique, with lots of character to the sound. The best of both worlds.

The LC's look cool, but my only concern is the body shape and how that works playing sitting down with it resting on your right leg. A bit like a 335 in that respect, judging by the look of the photos - could be wrong on that. The easy way to find out would be to go visit the shop and try it out, but I'm avoiding that in case I'll really like it! What's the US street price for an LC?

Thanks for the info 3625. At the time of purchase I paid $5760. Which seemed to be the going street price. I ordered mine with a maple neck so that was an extra $200 ......so it would have been $5560.

In January our Australian dollar was buying $1.05 so it was a nice saving. Shame I didn't pay the whole amount.
Now our dollar has sunk to $.89 US so it cost me a few hundred more.

Upside to the story is that I sold my Wesmo in 2 days flat for the same price I bought it.
Then someone out of the blue makes me an offer on my ES125....so I sold that.
So now I only have the Tom Painter left. (apart from the 175.) So I might even sell that and clean the stable out so to speak.
But really, that's the end of buying guitars from the US. The exchange rate has killed that off. Nice party while it lasted!

Interesting about the price - Gladesville in Syd state the rrp at $5995 (Aud), and say on the website call for street price - so not that different from the US. As a shop I've noticed them put a big markup on certain guitars, so I was assuming the Eastside would be significantly cheaper in the states, but in this case not so.

I hear you about the dollar, I've made a few usa purchases over the last few months (gypsy guitar, strings, wegens and a blue chip!) and have noticed the difference in exchange. I plan on selling my 175 soonish (in oz), so maybe the change in currency will help me out a little in that regard.

You mentioned the Gladeville model was an Eastside LC. Mine is an Eastside LC Deluxe. Explains the price difference.

The regular Eastside LC (not Deluxe) should be around 4800 USD.

Thanks! The guitar has a lovely voice or sure.
Here is a clip from a gig a couple of days ago where the Eastside is handling a good amount of gain and volume.
