Paul Brown plays a Palen on the latest Inside Track. Sounds great, but Paul's a legendary producer so he probably knows how to make things sound good.

I own a Palen 6 string floater. Its build quality is second to none, and its tone and playability are right up there with the best. It is my understanding that Nelson Palen is no longer making guitars, and as a result, very few are or will be available for purchase. And if it weren't for the fact that I have lost my love for floating PUPs, it would be an every day player, but my L5 collection has assumed that role.

Hear, hear, Paul Brown. 19:40 in. Quote, There is a technical point when I am not enjoying it (producing), I will definitely speak my mind. Because just note for note, for no reason. Everything has to have a purpose; every note that is played. There are times, especially with guitar, when there is phraseology that doesn't mean anything except to the guitar player. Unquote.

After watching the video I am seriously considering taking up a different hobbie. I really do stink.
To the original poster, after listening to the video the Palen sounds fantastic.

Yeah it does,in every video posted.I bought mine off the rack & I got to try a few first.I dunno,it's just not the guitar for me.It looks beatiful, has all the right components & appointments, but when I play it it's always a struggle.I have a plywood 7string made by Gary Mortoro w/a floating pickup, maple back & sides and a maple top as well.I've had it for 15 yrs now,and it really works for me.love the sound and the neck & fretboard are awesome.I've gigged it heavy since I got it & I'll never part with it.I dont know why Gary Mortoro hasn't gotten more recognition.
