Wow . . . I gotta admit . . . I'm really lost here man. I just remember the good old days. Plug one end of my cord into my guitar . . . the other end into my Ampeg VT 22 .. . roll the knobs and play. Then, I got this orange colored MXR chorus stomp box and a Vox Wah . . . complicated the hell outta things. Then, went to a DigiTech Chain Reaction 944 Mulit Effects rack mount out board unit. That was pretty cool .. .. but, to me, not pure. Now . . . back to the pure simplicity of going from an arch top directly into my Fender Pro Reverb. I'm happy! Complications suck . . . I avoid complications.

Right now I'm playing with a Fender Mustang II Floor. Signal is going to a decent PA. Let's see.. 57 Deluxe.. no wait, the 59 Bassman.. no, with the 4X12 cab.. yea with the Celestions. Hmm.. maybe I'll do the 65 twin and Vox tomorrow.

There's speaker efficiency. And then there's speaker sensitivity. They are often confused with each other. For example, we may have a highly sensitive speaker with poor efficiency . Or a highly efficient speaker with poor sensitivity.
Efficiency means how many watts the speaker receives actually get transferred to sound pressure level. Sensitivity means how decibels of sound pressure level the speaker puts out per watt of power it receives. This article explains it well: Loudspeaker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .
We often talk about speaker efficiency when we actually mean speaker sensitivity.

^ Ya, and there's no real reason nowadays to worry about sensitivity or efficiency. I was just checking out the well regarded QSC K10 PA over the weekend: 1000 Watts, 129 DB, 32lbs for under $800. That pretty well covers it.
Add a floor based modeler from Fender, Line 6, Zoom etc. and you don't have to go on the amp, speaker, cab carousel in your tone quest.
