I thought the AC15VR and AC30VR look pretty good.

I foolishly sold an AC15C1 a few years back.....I'll be buying a new one soon. It weighs a tonne but such a great sound with my Ibanez Artcore AFJ85.

Yes the regular valve AC15s and AC30s are notoriously heavy amps. I haven't picked up the VRs but I being believe being solid state they are a bit lighter. Still -- I lug a Fender Twin around so anything is light next to that.

If you liked the sound of your DR, why not get a TMDR?

Check out the Vox MV50 AC. It sounds great and it palm-sized. Get a neo-speaker equipped cab and you are good to go.

I used to have the Vox AC15VR
It was a seriously great amp! Definitely sounded like a Vox. The reverb (digital) was pretty weak sounding, you really needed to dime the reverb for it to have much effect. Pretty loud for 15 watts. Not sure if it's quite as loud as the tube AC15 but it would be close. A more efficient would easily bridge the gap if required.

I sold mine after I bought my Quilter Aviator Twin Ten. I love the Quilter, but it's still one of those amps I often regret selling.

Vox did a really good job in making a SS/hybrid amp sound like a real AC15.

That said the new TM Deluxe Reverb is lighter than the AC15VR... and it sounds to my ears like a good "real" Deluxe Reverb should sound... worth considering.

I have an AC15 VR and I like it a lot. It can get very loud, and it projects the loudness well (maybe from the closed back). A recent band performance I was the only one not mic'd (three other guitars, three vocals, keyboards and drums) and with volume at half I was loud enough.

I never considered the Deluxe Reverb in those terms. Twin Reverbs, Pro Reverbs, sure. But DRs? Really?

On the Vox side of things, I use a Vox voiced amp for jazz all the time and I think it sounds great. Channel 1 of the Mesa TA-30, with or without the Top Boost. Channel 2 is all-American (hence the name of the amp), very easy to compare with the flip of a switch.

That Carvin looks nice. I own 3 Carvins, and I'm amazed they're not more popular.

Thanks!--I don't want to sidetrack things, but it is 22 years old and a super instrument.

Does anyone have one and get good jazz tones out of it? Are these normally regarded as good jazz amps?
I use a Laney VC30 210 amp and I think it sounds great for jazz. This laney is a bit of a Vox clone using quad matched El 84 power tubes and 3 EC83'S.
