Interesting your thoughts. I also think the P90 is more open than any PAF I played; but I don't really hear the Lage Lund sound - Lage uses a Sadowsky which has a Di Marzio 36th PAF stock... his sound is very PAF / Baxandall to me. Jim Hall's sound is also in the PAF / Polytone side of things lately, but since he uses the volume knob quite low he can get a more acoustic sound.
I definitively think this pickup is close to Jim Hall's early P90 sound. But I have no problems about a) cutting in a band b) adding delay, reverb, good eq to achieve a more modern tone.
I think Kurt mainly used PAF low-ouput type pickups so far - he uses them really close to the strings with a very light attack, a huge part of his sound. I am not so sure about Adam Rogers' gear, that guy has the darkest sound I've ever heard!
If I were you I would go for a PAF pickup (Stormy Monday is amazing) and a good eq pedal to dial the Kurt's mids sound honestly.

I just ordered the Manhattan for my Trenier. My timing is such that I won’t actually have it until December because of the schedule of my Luthier and myself. I got in touch with Jorge who was very helpful and generous with his time and intention. But I want to pass on that the sound clips in this thread are no longer the ones with this pick up! Apparently the site that hosts his clips have updated with new ones. So don’t use the sound clips to judge the Manhattan!

Yeah, the current clips on that site reflect my 1965 Guild X-500 with either a Gibson Classic 57 trough a Blues Junior (recorded in a studio) or a Seymour Duncan APH-2 trough a modeeling rig (recorded with a smartphone). The clips with the Manhattan are no longer available, sorry for the confusion!

These are wonderful pickups! I had a pair on a thinline tele-style guitar, and I really enjoyed them!

Still (one of) my favourite pickups of all time. Turned a 175 that I couldn’t bond with into a 175 that I loved. Warm, thick, airy, sweet. My only regret is that I didn’t order the ‘deco’ casing
