Thanks! Very clean indeed, with a touch of warmth.

Next: I played a Senior Living Center gig in my duo with a keyboard/sax player yesterday afternoon. (I love doing these!) They had us sort of backed up into a corner in their Living Room; my amp was only a foot away from the wall. I had to back off the 100 Hz and 300 Hz knobs to 9 o'clock, but that was all the compensation I needed.

I've had my Henriksen for two weeks now - I can'te use it without my Para DI and HOF reverb. With both it sounds excellent trought my Dr Z 2x12 closed back with Tornados (usually everything flat on the amp). I still have to try it with my Shape EQ / Boss RPQ-10 but the Shape is at the my tech.
-
Ok I have the Shape EQ back. It's awesome for softening the edges (shelving bass and treble) on the Henriksen; Unfortunately mine is version 1 and is not parametric mids but my tech will try to change that when he has time; I am also using the RPQ-10 to make a narrow Q cut on 800hz and a narrow Q boost on 500hz (tip from Kurt Rosenwinkel's website). With the amp flat trough a 2x12 closed back with Tornados it sound very good...
It confirms my idea: with external eq, reverb and a proper speaker it's an excellent amp.

Well I tried the Bruno 25% settings last weekend on a trio gig, gtr bass drums. I've got a broken collarbone just now so I also used a different guitar - '72 thinline tele, as the 175 was too bulky!
Anyway, the Bruno settings are terrific, very clear/clean, rolling off the tone on the guitar to about 5 really gave me a spot on tone for solo chord melody stuff, I cleaned it up a bit more when blowing with the other guys.
Terrific amps the Henriksens.

Just uprgaded the op amps to OPA2134. Significant fidelity improvement.

Fabulous, thanks for the feedback on playing out. Hendriken's sure rock, pun intended!

I am happier because I use the Henriksen flat and my eq pedals do all the shaping - so it's all about fidelity
The OPAs are amazing for clean stuff - they improve all clean amps / pedals in my experience.

Is that Odessa as in Texas or as in Odessa, Ukraine?

I still like to use eqs with it but... sounds quite nice with my new EQD dispatch master before it this way. A booster really helps to fat it too and the OPA2134 mod added a lot of fidelity.
I am adding a new internal reverb soon (BYOC Reverb 2) and makng some mods to have less hum and to end that pop sound.

mine is the Jazzamp12 combo (early version) plus tweeter. Settings are always different depending on the guitar and the room, BUT, i usually start with everything at noon and boost the two low freqs a couple points and also the highest two if i am playing fingerstyle. For the acoustic archtops i cut the mid to 9 o'clock.

Small update: where it says 0., it's now between 0 and 3 - It dependes on the guitar / cab.

Hi!!!
Are the ICs on sockets on the JA ??? I love these OPA ICs too !!!
-
Hi Thierry.
Good question... My tech did the job but I am almost 100% positive they are non-socketed - and he told he had to take the whole apart to perform the mod, they are in a very hard to access place... But he didn't even charged me the OPAs or the 1h hour work so it was a good deal for me
(and he of course installed the new ones socketed)
I've noticed significant fidelity increase in all eq pedals / ss amp's preamps I have upgraded with OPA2134. Less noise too... the henriksen is more natural sounding than before. It just needs a decent reverb now
(the eq section is too much trouble to mod without a schematic)

Henricksen owners, do you own/use the internal tweeter or find it terribly useful?
I imagine in a nice big 17" carved top guitar with a floating pickup it might do a certain something (or with acoustics/nylon/gypsy/etc) but I am finding I always prefer it off with my Laminate Collings Eastside LC.
I just took delivery of my 110 ER and it came damaged (Peter Henricksen is great and is taking care of everything with first class custiner service).
I only ask because I bought the 110ER but I am thinking with the replacement I might just go for the regular 110 (non ER) and shave a couple lbs and ask them to substitute in the carrying bag.
In the brief time I played the 110 ER I could never really find myself using it with the tweeter on.
-
1) The carry bag is nice, but it adds a couple of pounds too!
2) Skip the tweeter unless you plan to use the amp with an amplified acoustic.
3) Maybe Peter would throw in an uninstalled Ragin Cajun instead of the tweeter, and you could compare it to the stock Beta10A - it's easy to replace the speaker - and then keep the one you like better in the amp.
-
Thanks Tom - I really appreciate your feedback and thoughts. I think I will do just this. There is no substitute for in home audition over time.
-
Between internal tweeter and external tweeter I think the external works much better - for acoustic guitars. I don't like tweeters with archtops... I don't really like the stock henriksen speaker but that's a whole other story.
So if you sue acoustics just get the external tweety. If not don't
-
I wasn't planing on getting the tweeter on mine, but it was what was available so I got it and glad it did. It has a switch so you can switch it off when you don't need it. I find it add a nice edge to sound and leave it on most the time (archtops with floater PU), but turn it off for my Fender's.
From what I've read the highest EQ control is the tweeters range so you can control the tweeter level.
my 2 cents

I am becoming interested in getting a BluesAmp 112. I think it is very rare to find. Most of the shops carry the JazzAmp.

Regarding the tweeter, it is 99.9% of the time switched off on my amp.
-
I just bought a tube amp, so if anyone needs a JazzAmp keep your eyes peeled on the FS section. Great buy!

You should tell us which one you bought...
