They did! It changed the tone of the guitar somewhat, but it was much better than what was happening everytime I held a note on my low E string for more than a beat or two. I'm loving the Jazzica!

Bobby Broom plays one with a stock pickup here:

Something you want to keep in mind is that the Jazzica being a 24 fret instrument will position the pickup further towards the bridge than a traditional guitar would. That will affect the sound in a way that swapping pickups may not "correct".

Bobby Broom is the reason I began jonesing for a Jazzica some 10 or 12 years ago.

I saw Bobby in '82 with Sonny Rollins here in Dallas. There was also a Japanese guitar player in the quintet whose name I have long forgotten. He was good, but Bobby was great! He was probably about 20 yrs old. And Sonny. Wow!

Bobby Broom is a consummate bebop artist and perhaps my favorite amongst his (and my) generation.

Now, I need to watch the rest that amazing video that medblues posted (thanks man!).

I'm not surprised that Bobby led you to the Jazzica. He gets a drier, more staccato tone than most guitarists I'm familiar with.
