[edh] >>> a question to you. On a t-o-m, I noticed that the saddles have a bevel on one side. Does it matter which way the bevel is facing?
In principle the bevel would go to the back side, toward the tailpiece. In practice, it does not matter - either way works fine.
Often the total travel available on an ABR-1 bridge on fixed posts (as on a Les Paul) will not be enough to compensate the bass strings, or even a very silly-light plain G.
I such a case you may see a few saddles placed backwards just to get the effective saddle location farther aft.

Does anyone care one way or the other about it having a 24-fret neck?

Maybe a dumb question, but not knowing what these 'rails' might be, can anyone think of a reason why a traditional wood bridge/saddle swap-out might not work on this particular guitar?
I prefer a more traditional wood saddle & bridge, but the design, specs and price of the Conti are very appealing.
