I am now using the gain as a volume knob, with the volume turn all the way up. All the EQ is turn up to about 5, plus the presence control. I have it set on Black Panel and it seems to sound alot better then it did. I am using the plate reverb, I have played tube amps most of my life never heard a spring reverb sound like this spring reverb. I know I am being to hard on this amp, so again please forgive me.

No worries. I used that model for a bit. Gain low. I ended up preferring the JC Clean for any cleaner stuff. Believe me, I am accustomed to people being hard on these. That is why I don't let people know what I play through. They ask after I play and I tell them the truth. They look puzzled for a second and then say they could have sworn that I must have been "...playing through a boutique tube amp" (their words). They regain their tube snob composure then tell me how much better I'd sound through tube. Gotta love it. People can't just accept it sounded good and be done.

I put the 80XL on Craigslist to trade it off I live 40 minutes from Austin Tx. So far I have gotten offer a Fender 212r and a Ibanez Wholetone WT80. Don't care for either of those amps myelf. I would not mind trading for one of the newer Peavey Bandits, are Peavey 400 series amps with Black Widow speakers. As long as they are in very good condition. But we will see what happens I guess.

Some people might think I am getting rip off, but I am getting rid of the 80XL Saturday. I am trading it straight across for a mint condition USA Red Stripe Peavey Bandit 112. I have a Black Widow 12, I can put in it if I want. I will play it for a while, until I get the amp I want.

Why would people think you are getting ripped off?

What others think shouldn't matter. If you were concerned about what others thought, you shouldn't have gotten the Cube in the first place. My recommendation is to get rid of the Cube if you don't like it, then buy something you've had a chance to put through its paces, and buy that.

I made the trade the Bandit is a red stripe the last one made in USA. Myself I like it better then the 80XL. If I need effects for church for some of the more contempary music. I will use a Zoom G3 a friend is trading me for a set of Fender Texas special pickups. I started me a little bank account I am saving for a Fender Vibrolux. I had one once and really liked it. I have decided to quit buying stuff to get by with, just because its a little cheaper are things that are suppose to sound like other things.
