    Hi histind, I am also under the same opinion but wonder if there are any teflon (or any low abrasion material) coated flatwound steel string available in the market.

    I use a Dunlap Jazz III. It is small and has nice beveled edges. It is about as close as I have found that sounds like finger picking.

    This seemed like a silly question until I remembered using felt picks as a kid with my ukulele...

    I think THE THUMB is the best for that muted style sound.

    This is going into the annals of silly all-time ideas but I am going to try silicone surgical tubing and stretch it over a pick for the "fleshy" sound. Try different thicknesses until you find one that you like.

    NB: I found out that surgical tubing is actually made of latex.
