I just recently started a thread about 10" Eminence speakers.
A friend asked me to post this question about 12" Eminence speakers (we live a few blocks apart and therefore have the same local Eminence supplier).
He just bought a 1 x12" Marshall closed-back cab and he is wondering which would be the best 12 inch (8 ohm) Eminence speaker for this cab. He is hoping to find a speaker that has somewhat of a British voice and that would also be suitable for jazz/fusion. He has the Fender/American sound(s) covered with other amps/speakers.
Many thanks for your suggestions/advice.
Cheers

Maybe the request for a speaker with British voicing is not "appealing" to folks here.

Okay, school me. What's the definitions of American and British speaker voices -- how do they differ?

Thanks for all of the responses.

I hope others comment on this as I am certainly no expert.
You might find the Eminence site interesting:
Guitar / Bass | Eminence Speaker
They have the "Patriot" and "Red Coat" lines of speakers (along with the "Legend" line ....and others).

yes, typically british voiced are marshall/vox and american voiced are fender.

British/American voicings, I don't know. I do know, however, that I like the 12" Eminence Legends. GREAT clean sounds.

I have a Yamaha T50c Soldano that I had modded in a major way for fusion/blues (it was a very high-gain metal sounding amp in its stock incarnation). I put a Tonker in it. Sounds very dumble-like now, and with some delay and a little more gain it does a respectable Suhr OD. A lot of that is my genius amp guy, but that speaker sounds great to me.

I don't know about eminence for some what british sound, I have heard celestion 30's clean up pretty good. We put one in a Peavey Classic 30 and the sound was very cool.

don't like the celestion vintage 30 at all for jazz or fusion. to nasally and middy.

You maybe right, the guy I heard playing them was Eric Clapton. He was playing Jazz on a Marshall Bluesbreaker.

He can talk to the guy's at Eminence I know they have help me alot. I'am not at home now and won't be for a week. But eminence when I called them turn me on to a speaker close to a EV 12L to load in a old Peavey 212 close back cab I have. I don't remember the model number off hand. But I emailed them told them what I wanted, and they got right back to me. Just a suggestion.

go to eminence site, you will find sound samples for each speaker !
most likely no one can understand exactly what you want... but you can listen to samples and decide !

WSG are supposed to be great for british sounds and are quite cheap
