Must admit, all I know is it's Japanese by a company called Rockugen. A member of TDPRI posted a link to their website but it's all in Japanese so I can't navigate it well enough to find it.

I own several archtops, but I bought a Telecaster American Vintage 52 Reissue several months ago.
I am not yet satisfied of the Tele tone as far as jazz guitar tone is concerned.
I found it a bit harsh. Not that kind of sweet and mellow tone you expect.
This, however, could also be due to the ampli, because, although I have got several very good guitars, I still don't have a good amplifier to play Jazz.
Actually I went to the shop to buy an ampli but I came out with the Telecaster.

After playing most everything else in the realm of archtops, a Tele is my main jazzer now (along with a chambered Godin, which is especially fantastic for chord-melody work).
I got the Tele as a parts-caster in a partial trade a couple of years ago, thinking that I could just trade or sell it easily, and it quickly became the one guitar that made me stop searching for another archtop. At rehearsal and live volumes, it just gets that meeting of natural compression and warmth that is exactly what I want in my tone. It has a mini-hum at the neck (GFS? Can't remember.), and a maple fretboard! Two things I would never outright purchase in search of a good jazz tone. But I just love the clarity that a solid/chambered body gives me across the range. In some archtops I've played, I just don't get the definition and character in the bass and lower mids that I can get now.
By the way, my first good electric guitar (back in 1984) was an '82 '52 reissue that a guy had already modded with a DiMarzio at the neck. I was in love at the first (attempted) jazz chord!

Here's my Buscarino jazz tele which was made in 2007. I've thought about (and actually tried to) sell it a few times, but since I bought a "neck-up" thingy to make seated playing more ergonomic I'm now very happy playing it. I've got it strung with TI flats in 10 gauge. My teacher's 175 sounds 'fuller'...but I'm pretty sure that's just because he's an awesome player! In my hands, this tele sounds no worse than an electric archtop. Different, but not worse in terms of jazz tone.
