    Hello Guys!

Furch Guitars are made in The Czech Republic, since 1981. I have an acoustic Furch, and im very satisfied with it (I showed it to my luthier who was surprised about the low price and very good quality). Becase I cant find Epi Broadway Elitist, im thinking about buying this Furch Archtop:

FURCH - výrobce kytar znaèky Furch a Stanford

In 1-2 month (new delivery gonna arrive and) I can try it, and can make a comparison with my Epiphones and a Gibson Archtop which is in the shop which sells Furch guitars.

    What do You think?

I own the Furch G1 archtop. That's a laminated 16", with floating Kent Armstrong and was a lower budget model then the Stanford you are considering, but it is a very well built instrument with great character. Construction and finish are absolutely flawless. According to the Furch website only a 100 were built.

It's not my main guitar, because it is rather prone to feedback because of it's light construction. Also it's a bit bass heavy on some amps.

I consider this Furch of a higher class then Epiphone, Ibanez, etc. (in the 350-500 pricerange).

I am gonig to put in a P90 someday, because I think this Czech baby has potential to be a great instrument, but I feel the (Korean made) floating KA doesn't unleash her true potential.

In short: the Furch Stanford seems an excellent choise and I am curious how you will like it.

That's a nice looking instrument and a great website. Wish they had more of a presence in the USA.

Yes maybe those are nice, but I can barely give up to get my hands on a Broadway Elitist

The Kent Armstrong pickup is NOT a Korean one, its handmade here in Slovakia by Juraj Turza, who has learned pickup making from Kent in the USA. He is an authorized maker.

No, I have not tried it with another pickup yet. I think the bass-heaviness would be less if I could only lower the pickup on the bass side, but since it's a neck-mounted pickup in a bracket without pole pieces that's not possible.....

At some point I was even considering to install a P90 in the top. Since it's a laminated top I don't mind putting a hole in it. But the H-bracing allows little room, it would mean cutting through one of the. Although it would be at the very end of the bracing, I don't dare doing that without some sort of reinforcement.

How does a Czech produced guitar have a name of Furch? Is the designer-builder Furch simply producing his guitars in the Czech Republic?

I spent a year in the FSU (former soviet union) and not once did I encounter a name remotely close to F U R C H.

The founder of the company is František Furch, a Czech luthier. Read the history of the company here: Furch Guitars - Story
For people like you they produce their guitars under the name Stonebridge too (what also isnt a typycal czech name btw) Stonebridge Guitars International

Thank you for the link featuring the Furch company history. I enjoyed it, especially reading about the early days of developing a private company under the former Soviet regime. Viewing the Furch website you'd never know their guitars are produced in a territory that's home to some of the most beautiful women on the planet...okay, I'm easily sidetracked.

Mine has a mahogany or ovangkol or ivory (?) tailpiece (see picture). Almost all Furch A17-21 SF guitars I see on the Internet have chrome or golden plated tailpiece. Is this an older tailpiece, more cheap/expensive or what?

    Greetings,

    Veddi
