I thought you were referring to the genre "smooth jazz". I hate the label "smooth jazz", just because it has the word jazz in it a lot of jazz musicians get bent out of shape and send hatred towards 'smooth jazz' music.

If they would have just called it R & B or adult contemporary then I believe there would be a lot less criticism.

Smooth jazz includes Pat Metheny to Kenny G to Sade to to B.B. King to Eric Clapton and everything in between... at least the 'smooth jazz' station in San Diego plays all those folks. 'Smooth Jazz' is really a ridiculous term imo.

I like some of what is played on the smooth jazz station, not all of it, but some of it... I like R & B and Motown... both played on that station.

Oh god no. You would be justified in tracking me down with intent to harm should i ever equate the two. I physically react when i hear the Charlie Rose theme.

Though i wouldn't put Sade in that camp, i could understand why they would put it on that station. "Elevator Music" or "Hold Music" or "Music That Won't Unsettle Your Grandmother" would all be more appropriate than smooth jazz.

Thanks for the Vintage Vibe tips. I'll email Pete.
