I've used Shure for a long time, *SM57, SM55m Green Bullet) I switched to Sennheiser a few years ago when I was running sound at a local Cafe'. The E835 is the same price as a SM58 and has 1000 hz more top end and amazing clarity, I use an E609 to mic the amp as needed , They both work well on acoustics.

Does your rig have phantom power? If so, consider the Earthworks SR-117 condenser, $199, completely flat frequency response rather than an upper midrange presence peak that can make voices sound harsh and strident. And since it has a flat frequency response, it is easy to EQ and tailor to a specific singer. It has a supercardioid pattern so is quite resistant to feedback.
