Hi Rob, if you don't mind a digital device, I think the Neural DSP Nano Cortex is great. I've started a Fender collection on mine (Deluxe, Princeton, Tweed and Twin profiles so far; currently stuck on the Deluxe). I use mine in the FX return of a Quilter Superblock, into a Toob cab. The Toob has a small speaker, and I have little to no experience with the actual versions of those amps. I can't tell you if the profiles are exact but most reviewers say they're pretty close. Both the sound and feel are great. I have no clue if that rig is gigable as I don't gig. As a home rig it's fantastic. I thought the Quilter, although very good, had a pretty narrow sweet spot where I wasn't bothered by something in the sound or feel. The Nano gives me a good sound faster with far more options (a couple dozen effects are included, of which I've only used a reverb and a boost so far). The Nano has no screen interface - a smartphone provides that in an app via Bluetooth connexion to the unit. Use of a smartphone is pretty much a requirement. There are two bigger versions with screens, the processors are identical. There's a little learning curve, though a lot simpler than for modelling units such as the Helix. The big plus is should you want to try another Henriksen, a Rivera, a Supro, basically anything you want, you can, as long as the profiles, either free or paid, are available.

This conversation has passed through that topic, m_d, but thanks anyway. Being a technophobe, I chose the one with the biggest knobs: the TC Combo Deluxe 65
