Bronze frets?

I recently read about bronze frets. Supposed to be a sort of middle ground between nickel and ss. Harder than nickel, but easier to work than ss. Has anyone tried them? I'm considering a Strat neck with them already installed.

I have never tried bronze frets, so I can't tell how they play and sound.

However, bronze is a copper alloy which will tarnish / patinate brownish or maybe even greenish after shorter or longer time (days, weeks, months), depending of the specific alloy used and the climate you live in. The patination will wear off where the strings touch the frets and will be intact on the frets not used much such as the highest frets. Whether that patination - and variation in patination across the fretboard - is attractive or not is a matter of personal taste. Also, bronze tends to color the skin greenich where it touches the bronze, especially with sweaty skin. That is well known from wrist watches with bronze cases, which are ususally equipped with stainless steel case backs to avoid direct contact between the bronze and the skin.

For that reason, I wouldn't use bronze frets myself, but your mileage may differ.

These are a copper-titanium alloy. I have these on a kiesel osirus neck, jumbo or med jumbo, and they pay great on its’ 20in radius neck.
