What model is this Gibson archtop?

Looks like a 275, but has the Florentine cutaway and some kind of "supreme" inlay.

And a variatone.

Any ideas?

That’s what it is. So strange to see those Trini-style inlays on something called “Custom” instead of the blocks.

Yup. I had an ES-137 Custom a few years ago for several months, and it definitely looks like mine did. It was a great guitar that in some ways reminded me of the 1980 Howard Roberts Fusion I used as my main gigging guitar in the 90s - but without being being a boat anchor weight-wise, like my 'Fusion was (the early 80s Howard Roberts Fusions are notorious for being heavy guitars - Les Paul players, don't whine! my 'Fusion weighed more than a Les Paul)! The only reason I got rid of my ES-137 Custom? I realized that I no longer liked the slim-taper neck profile it had, which so many Gibsons have nowadays.

That model seems to have stayed off my radar, although I was probably aware of it back during its brief run ... apparently 2002 to 2013.

According to Wiki it has a center block which sort of makes it like a single cut 335 with a Florentine cut away.

If I ever see one in person, I'll be sure to give it a try.

I've always liked the 275s I tried, so I would probably like this, too.

But it's rare that I meet a Gibson I don't like.

The ES-137 has a maple neck vs mahogany of ES-275. I like mahogany better, gives some kind of ”depth” or ”liveliness” or something more than maple. More gibson!
