Bromo Guitars?

Ok, I know these are Flat Tops, however due to my recent experience with cheap Indonesian (Gretsch) guitars, these have my attention. Bromo (maybe a not so good a name) is getting some good reviews. And $200-500 dollars. Could take it to the lake and in a pinch use it as a paddle! Anyone here tried one? So are we looking at Indonesian Firewood? (Also useful at the lake).

I did play with BAR-3 in a store once cuz it looked unlike anything I've seen and it was surprisingly loud and sounded like a a regular guitar. In terms of construction, it was all solid and the finish was flawless.

I hate the sound of acoustic guitar so I don't plan on buying one but if they ever come out with a nylon string version, it will be a day one purchase since that particular model is the best compact/travel shape I've ever experienced.

I assume their regular models are equally good sounding instruments.

Curious though why you think the name is a poor choice.

Just reminds me of Bromo Seltzer and upset stomach. Heartburn. But Bromo Seltzer is a relief when you have those issues.

I only see one U.S.dealer, Rondo Music

I've seen that, but it's a thinbody, not a "proper" acoustic guitar.
The reason I was tempted by the BAR-3 was for those times in-between games when I could practice scales or a few chords.. none of my proper guitars really fit in my gaming chair because of the armrests ....

I know, it's weird xD and it's about to get a lot weirder:
I find it too metallic, plinky and zingy sounding and the string gauges are hard on the fingers. But at the same time, I love telecasters and I do have a bass I mess around with from time to time.
I dislike folk, pop and any genre where the predominant instrument is the steel-string acoustic. I'm not big on strumming and I find songs where the melody comes from a strummed acoustic guitar grating. If I am in a bar or restaurant and a singer starts some acoustic bs I immediately walk out. But Delta blues is something I quite like.


As for that Bromo Szeltzer thing... no idea what it is, that ad is from waaaaaaaaaay before my time.
I do know Alka Szeltzer however - a girl i went out with gave me some one morning when I had a killer hangover and it worked wonders.

And yes, Mick is right, they are named after the volcano in Indonesia. Their different lines are also named after mountains or related stuff i think.
