Hey Folks,
I have a Rivera Jazz 25 that is having an issue and was wondering if anybody knows of a good shop in NJ that does amp repair?
Thanks so much!

I know someone just outside of Philly. A bit of a drive but well worth it.

Big Bang Music Center. There was an EE I know doing repairs on the side, not sure if he's still doing it.
Or try Raritan Bay Guitar Repair, RepairGuitar.com, they're closer to you in Freehold.

Billy Penn in Toms River is excellent as is Dave’s Sound, already mentioned here. I have used them both.
If you decide on Billy he prefers text messaging. He sent his customers an email a while back he is busy. I copied it:
“Dear Penn Services PMA Members,First, thank you sincerely for your continued support. I truly appreciate the trust you place in me and in my work.
As Penn Services continues to grow, I’m making several updates for 2026 to improve efficiency, streamline workflow, and maintain the quality and turnaround times you expect. These changes allow me to focus on the bench and serve everyone better.
Please review the updates below, effective January 1, 2026 (unless noted otherwise):
1. Pickup & Drop-Off Windows
To maintain uninterrupted bench time, pickups and drop-offs will take place during the following windows:
- Weekdays:
12:30 PM – 3:30 PM (Mon through Fri) - Wednesdays: Closed
- Saturdays: 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Please check my Google Business page for any hour changes or updates.
2. Appointments Outside Window
Pickup or drop-off requests before 12:30 PM on weekdays are by appointment-only.
3. Communication
Due to workload volume, I’m no longer able to take phone calls.
- Text messaging is the preferred and most efficient way
to reach me for questions, updates, or scheduling.
4. Amplifier Service Scope
To ensure consistent quality and turnaround times, amplifier service will be limited to:
- Pre-1980 Fender and Marshall tube amplifiers
- Select post-1980 tube amplifiers by discretion
- All Pennalizer amplifiers (always accepted)
For other amplifier and electronic repairs, I recommend:
Nejat – Audio Technologies
Wall Township | 732-223-0274
An excellent and experienced electronics technician.”.

I’d ask Lou of Guitars N Jazz. He’s been in NJ a very long time, and likely knows everybody’s work.
