There are products that I must immediately purchase.

This is not one of them.

Dunlop was selling Jimi Hendrix fuzzes in the early 90's that did almost the same thing LOL.

There's a frog one too. The kids who like MONONEON and Wolfpeck love this crap.

In the late 1970s/early 1980s there was a small one-man company out of Rockland County, NY building guitar effects boxes under the moniker Sloth Systems...and their two best fuzz boxes were called the MagicFart DistortoWhiz, and the MagicFart2 (the number 2 was in superscript, and so pronounced "MagicFart squared").

I owned one of them -- I honestly forget which one it was -- and it was a pretty impressive sounding fuzzbox if you like that totally over-the-top synthetic buzz, like Robert Fripp on those early King Crimson records.

Don't remember whatever happened to that stompbox...it probably disappeared around the same time as my fretless Teisco Del Rey.

$0.02: your dissing of Vulfpeck seems a bit misguided. They are top-notch players. I don't love everything they do, but Cory Wong's got it goin' on.

    So does Pee Wee:

So good they named him after a Vulfpeck song.

Nah I think it's perfectly correct, this is all par for the course. It's the Jack Stratton peak archness vibes. It's the 'not only can I get Chris Thile on this record, but I can get him to dress in a daft red boiler suit' energy.

Most millennial thing ever. Their music is not so much composed as curated. I expect Gen Z's HATE them.

I'm not proud of myself for enjoying a bit of VP. I do like to annoy my children with the Funky Duck.

The fart is almost a subgenre in the synthesizer world.

I kinda get that. I wrote this over on the TalkBass forum a few years ago:

Vulfpeck's musicianship is certainly irreproachable, and I do enjoy them far more than I do many other bands known for their irreproachable musicianship

...but I still find them ultimately a bit unsatisfying to listen to. They strike me as a bunch of really nice fun guys who are having an absolute blast playing together, but it's not a contagious sort of fun; it comes across as insular, like they're all sharing an inside joke that the listener is not privy to. There's almost an inherent smugness to their fun.

I'd rather listen to Fearless Flyers.

Sure, they are top-notch, but with feel and soul they don't hold a candle to James Brown. Modern funk lost all the grease and sounds like protools optimization. It's just not my thing.

Maybe they aren't trying to play funk, but everyone who loves them tells me they are a funk band and, they just aren't.

Here's some funk with fart synth

Years ago my wife and I were playing badminton with another couple. When the other lady bent over to pick up the birdie with her rear pointed at everyone, a huge loud fart came out. We still laugh about it to this day.

I was in a departmental meeting of about 20+ people some 40ish years ago when someone ripped a HUGE LOUD fart. Not ... one ... person even cracked a smile. It was as if the event didn't happen at all. I am still amazed at the self-control of everyone in that room. Well, almost everyone ;-)
